Eighteen-year old Nathaniel Fujita of Wayland is being held without bail for the weekend murder of his ex-girlfriend, 18-year-old Lauren Astley. The teens reportedly met with each other Sunday night. Middelex County DA Gerry Leone said Astley was killed by strangulation and a stab wound to her neck. Police allegedly found substantial evidence at the Fujita home in Wayland that included blood in the garage, kitchen, and bathroom, a bungy cord, and bloody clothes and sneakers in Fujita's bedroom. A 51-year old Brockton grandmother was shot and killed on Saturday allegedly by a Brockton teenager.

Alger Street in Brockton has its own Facebook page. It's home to some impressive potholes. Christine Brennan, 44, of East Bridgewater damaged her car there and got her claim for $1,000 in damages rejected by Brockton. Facebook is the way to reply to such things in 2011. She wrote about Alger Street: "I am one of the meanest, ugliest roads you’ve ever seen,” the page says. “I pop tires, dent rims, break shocks, you name it, I do it. I have been this way for about 10 years now."
A man wanted for questioning in relation to the deaths of Maria Avelina Palaguachi-Cela, 25, and her son, Brian Palaguachi, 2, in Brockton is in custody in Ecuador awaitng his return to the United States. Both victims were killed by blows to the head. Channel 5 said Palaguachi-Cela's family located Luis Guaman, the victims' roommate, in Canar, Ecuador. He allegedly bought a plane ticket on Friday or Saturday. Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz said a man named Segundo Castro, an alias used by Guaman, flew to Ecuador shortly before both bodies were found. Despite not having extradition treaty with Ecuador, Channel 5 said Guaman will be sent to the United States. All charges alleged until proven under law. [WCVB]
Police arrested 34-year-old Aparicio Velencia De La Cruz in connection with the deaths of 25-year-old Maria Avelina Palaguachi-Cela and her 2-year-old son Brian Palaguachi. De La Cruz lives in the same building as the victims will be arraigned Wednesday in Brockton District Court on a charge of misleading police. A 25-year-old mother and her 2-year-old son were found dead in a dumpster behind their Warren Avenue apartment in Brockton on Monday. Police identified the mother as Maria Avelina Palaguachi-Cela and her son as Brian Palaguachi. The mother is reportedly an immigrant from South America. Both bodies were recovered intact, said Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz. He also said the crime was not random. [WHDH]

In light of the apparent suicide of "Craigslist Killer" Philip Markoff, Craigslist is getting a lot of media scrutiny again. Specifically, the Patriot Ledger reports two more female escorts claimed they were "robbed or sexually assaulted" by a man they met through the Craigslist. The suspect was arrested last week in a similar incident. All charges alleged until proven under law.
While $100,000 worth of water should keep you very clean and properly hydrated, it's a sign of a huge problem that needs to be cleaned up in Brockton. For decades, the city has been sending incorrect water bills to residents. The meters are accurate, but the Water Department isn't getting proper data. And, no, nobody decided to read the meters when they could send estimated bills. Is doing nothing worse than doing it wrong? [Globe]
A Brockton man exposed himself to a woman a Middleboro/Lakeville train, according to the MBTA Transit Police. The victim was reportedly texting as the suspect was in the process of exposing himself. She alerted a conductor who called the police, and the suspect was arrested for open and gross lewdness. He was also cited for possession of marijuana. --A 24-year old Framingham man was arrested for allegedly having 31 bags of marijuana in his car after a failed attempt at a street race. Police observed two cars "revving their engines and spinning their tires" at a Speen Street intersection in Natick. One car failed to start the race. The other car drove away. The driver charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, racing a vehicle and driving with a suspended license. [MetroWest Daily News]
--For some reason, 32-year-old Keni Garcia of Haverhill allegedly wanted 85,000 bullets. The ATF, ICE and state and local authorities seem to think this was a bad idea. Who knew? Essex County prosecutors are charging Garcia, who was scheduled to become an American citizen today, with illegal possession of ammunition, three counts of possession of a high-capacity firearm, and illegal storage of a firearm. Investigators found 10,000 rounds in his car, 20,000 rounds at his house. He allegedly tried to buy 55,000 more rounds in New Hampshire.[Boston Globe, Boston Herald]
-- Boston police arrested three suspects in connection with last Tuesday's non-fatal shooting on Centre Street in Jamaica Plain. The shooting was apparently drug-related, and the three suspects, aged 26 to 30, were charged with guns and drugs charges but not assault.
