A year ago, this particular Bostonist tore into Hot Stove, Cool Music with a ferocity most often seen perhaps in rabid dogs. An event billed as top-notch synergy between Boston's sports and music circles left us wondering if we'd missed the tabletop covered with Kool-Aid in Dixie cups, because we viewed the night as a musical an uninspired, over-hyped musical event. We refuse to believe that we've mellowed in a mere year's time, but it's......

Regardless of how you think he would have fared in 2006, one must admit that Bronson Arroyo was screwed over by the Red Sox organization. He plunks down money on a new house in Boston. He agrees to a hometown discount, $11.2 million contract (over three years) with the Sox, which was pretty much the one thing his agent didn't want him to do. And then the guy is promptly traded off to Cincy for......

We're hearing a lot of negative thoughts about the Red Sox lately. For a team with a 10 game lead and the best record in baseball, the Negative Nellies are out in full force, predicting doom and gloom in the form of (1) injuries, (2) guys who are hot cooling off, (2b) guys who are cold never heating up, and (3) an inevitable Yankee rally. This, to us, is pre-10/27 thinking. If Red Sox fans......

And we thought the days of musical Red Sox pitchers were over when Bronson Arroyo got traded. But we can't wait for July 17, when pitching sensation Daisuke Matsuzaka will release his own mix CD, "Music From the Mound" with a collection of songs that inspire and touch the hurler, plus an original track or two. You may have heard one on Monday night, when NESN gave us a few seconds of "Gyro Ball", which......

Was it really just a few days ago that the sky was falling, the panic buttons were being hauled out of the closet, the kids were being reminded of their disaster-preparedness drills? Well, everyone can breathe easy for the moment, as the Sox dispatched the Giants for the third straight game, with a 9-5 win keyed by a rare Manny home run and a satisfying performance by Tim Wakefield. And the moment every Sox fan......

The first series of the season is in the books and the Red Sox are on their way to Baltimore with a 2-1 record after last night's 2-1 victory over the Texas Rangers. Of the last two games there were only a few bright spots to showcase, Jonathan Papelbon's performance being one, Josh Becket's being another. Monday's game was an all-around impressive display of offense - Mike Lowell's bat is slow...what? - and pitching. Thank......

While the real baseball season hasn’t even started yet, all Sox fans have been eyeing new Yankee Johnny Damon ever since that first press conference with his long locks chopped off for Steinbrenner’s organization. There hasn’t been much to comment on since Damon just recently returned to the lineup after sitting out since March 10th with a shoulder injury. (Not that it wasn’t a bit fun to see the replay of him missing that first......

If they didn't know before, then by now Red Sox nation is well aware of the fact that turn-over is a necessary evil in the baseball world. The "business is business" credo is no more evident than in the wake of the Sox management shipping off our beloved rock'n'rollin' and high-kickin' Bronson Arroyo. Those with weak hearts and fragile emotions should steer clear of the baseball fraternity. Even the ubiquitous face of the Red......

Home for a very brief, and wet, four-game homestand, the Red Sox toed up with the Oakland Athletics before heading off on the last road trip of the season. The Sox dropped two of the games, both of which were painful. Game One showcased another unknown pitcher Boston had never seen before, Joe Blanton, and kept the Boston bats relatively silent and baffled. This continued the trend of seeing the Boston offense fall flat on......

The golden boys of Boston known as the Red Sox might not be so shiny anymore...well, at least not Pitcher Bronson Arroyo. A link has been circulating around the city this week of some female co-eds hanging out socially with Arroyo and fellow Sox pitcher Lenny Dinardo. No big deal, right? Well, the photos on this girl's photo site are pretty interesting and Arroyo's wife doesn't seem to be in any of them. [ed. note:......
