It's gotten boring waiting for Lord Hobo to open. The restaurant, which will eventually occupy the deathbed of the B-Side Lounge, has been threatening to open since last January, which has given its owners plenty of time to think of a less retarded name. ("Peasant Bourgeoisie"?) At any rate, its menu is finally live, complete with nearly two dozen irritating ellipses. The good news? 30 freaking beers. (Via Grub Street Boston)

Legal Sea Foods, the Boston-based chain restaurant, never gets much love in the snobby circles of Boston's food cognoscenti, so this might come as terrible news to them. Patrick Sullivan, the mastermind behind the B-Side Lounge and one of the prime movers behind Boston's classic cocktail revival, has been hired to oversee Legal's cocktail menu. He's starting at the new Legal Harborside, but we hope that his cocktail menu will filter down to Legal's Test Kitchen, our favorite guilty pleasure during the inevitable flight delays at Logan Airport. Daniel Lanigan, owner of Amherst beer haven the Moan and Dove, announced yesterday that he has bought the B-Side Lounge in Cambridge and will be reopening it soon. He adds that "the bar will continue to have a fantastic cocktail list [and] I will also try to add a world class beer list." The B-Side announced its bankruptcy in December after closing in November. The B-Side is widely considered to be Patient Zero in the epidemic of expensive, classic cocktails in the Boston drinking scene.
The Saga of the B-Side Lounge continues. In trouble since August, the lounge closed in November. Now, owner Catherine Sullivan has filed for bankruptcy for the business. The company's assets and debt are both in the $500k to $1 million range, leading a bankruptcy attorney to recommend auctioning off the assets to pay the debts. An auction of the bar's property, liquor license (though maybe you could get one cheaper another way), and lease may happen on January 15. This is the B-Side's second bankruptcy, following the first in 2003, in which it had over $800,000 in debt. Earlier this year, the B-Side made Esquire's list of Best Bars. How quickly they fall.
