As the sports talk radio war continues between WEEI and 98.5 Sports Hub, Comcast SportsNet will simulcast the top-rated afternoon show hosted by Mike Felger and Tony Massarotti. The simulcast will begin once the show's new studio is finished. WEEI recently began an FM simulcast on WMKK to counter SportsHub's ratings lead. The four New York Times journalists, including two with connections to Boston, who were captured by Moammar Gadhafi loyalists in Libya last week have been released and are now in Tunisia. Former Boston Globe reporter Anthony Shadid, photographers Tyler Hicks, a BU graduate, and Lynsey Addario and videographer Stephen Farrell crossed the border into Tunisia after being turned over to the Turkish ambassador in Tripoli. Family members of the four journalists were relieved despite not knowing every detail of the ordeal. New York Times executive editor Bill Keller warned other journalists. "This is a reminder that real, boots-on-the-ground journalism is hard and sometimes dangerous work," he said. [Boston Herald]
We love Glen Davis and Jeff Green and what they do for the Celtics. But, when they outscore the Big Three of Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett in a game then the Celtics are in trouble. That's what happened last night and the Houston Rockets took advantage of it with a 93-77 Friday night victory as Green (17) and Davis (16) had 33 combined points while Pierce, Allen and Garnett tallied 29. Houston led 62-40 at the half.
Charlie Sheen is coming to Boston to expose us to his magic. Sheen's "My Violent Torpedo of Truth" tour will take over Boston University's Agganis Arena on April 12. Sheen's tour added five cities, including the Hub, to his road show and will begin selling tickets tomorrow at an undisclosed price. The content of the show is unknown, but probably will include heavy doses of the word "winning" and Sheen's version of his dispute with CBS over his, well, unconventional conduct and commentaries. Perhaps, Christian Day and Salem's warlocks will show up.
Half of the field for the NCAA Women's Frozen Four at Tullio Arena in Erie, Penn. comes from the Hub. Yes, BC and BU are still alive in the chase for a women's hockey crown. On Friday, BC (24-6-6) meets top-seeded Wisconsin (26-4-4) at 5 p.m. and BU (26-6-4) faces Cornell (31-2-1) at 8 p.m. The national championship game is on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. You can only watch the games at NCAA.com.
Boston University (21-13) is Massachusetts' lone representative in the NCAA tournament after winning the America East title on Saturday against Stony Brook, 56-54, thanks to 27 points, 11 rebounds, and two winning free throws from John Holland. The Terriers are rolling through March with an 11-game winning streak. They're now the #16 seed in Southwest Regional and play #1 seeded Kansas (32-2) in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Friday.
See? No offense, Eagles or Terriers, but the Beanpot needn't always be all about the BC/BU matchup. Monday's Garden double-header offered a pair of thrilling hockey matchups for Boston-area hockey fans, and while the Boston University community is wincing today, at least they can take consolation in knowing that they were part of an exciting installment of the area college tradition.
Boston got more than its share of air time on national television in the past few days.

Universities in Massachusetts are making news.
Verizon telephone and Internet customers in the Back Bay and at Boston University lost service after a cable was accidentally cut last night. Verizon doesn't know how many clients were affected. The service should be back today. Hopefully, it won't affect fantasy football picks at BU. [Globe]

Season Seven of "Entourage" just wrapped up with Vinny Chase in trouble with the man, sporting some nasty bruises on his face. The show's second-to-last season ended and we're left with reruns on TV38, weekdays at 11:30 p.m.
Joel Tenenbaum goes to Boston University to pursue a doctorate in physics. He's getting quite familiar with the American legal system, too, after appealing US District Court Judge Nancy Gertner's court order to reduce a $675,000 damage award to $67,500 in damages for illegally downloading music. Tenenbaum said the reduced damage award is "equally as insane" as the original amount. The former Providence, R.I., resident says the reduced award would force him to declare bankruptcy. The four record companies due the damages, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Warner Bros. Records Inc., Arista Records LLC, and UMG Recordings Inc., also appealed the reduced award. [Boston Globe]

Wednesday's Rondolicious win over Miami really was too much to top so the Celtics didn't even try in another Friday loss to Atlanta, 93-85. Coach Doc Rivers said his team had no "spirit" and was "out for a stroll" in the first quarter. He said Atlanta earned the win. "They deserved the game, " he said. "They're the better team."
Finally, people in ski goggles lip syncing to "ABC." It's just what this world needed.
- Boston votes on Tuesday. Today, the Boston Herald provides two potential campaign issues for voters. Michael Flaherty blames Mayor Thomas M. Menino for the lack of Verizon FiOS service in Boston while Menino blames Verizon. Flaherty blames Mayor Menino for a lack of available financing needed to complete work at the unfinished Filene’s site at Downtown Crossing.

It's almost graduation: you know, that time when the city is flooded with parents, graduates, and moving trucks as everyone prepares to move to their new job and city—or, in this economy, back in with the 'rents. What happened over the past year at the big (and small) schools around town? Bostonist looks back at some news stories, from Harvard's billion-dollar losses to Emerson's Holocaust insensitivity, and provides graduation information as well, including commencement speakers, in which category Berklee blows everybody away. Did we miss an important story? Let us know in the comments!
In a highly scientific study, the often useful BostonTweet named Emerson and BU the most active local schools on Twitter. The study was conducted by asking people who tweets the most. Makes sense, we suppose. Emerson students, grads, and profs pulled out their self-promotion skills to tie for the top spot. Tufts got a fair number of mentions, and a few people pointed out that Suffolk is on Twitter as well. We're a little surprised that high-tech MIT isn't the Massachusetts Institute of Twitter, but maybe the folks over there have some real work to do. Who do you think tweets the most and best in Boston, collegiate or otherwise?
