--Yesterday afternoon, a person was shot in the chest and side in Roxbury on Langdon Street. The Globe noted that the incident was a block away from a playground. That's bad enough, but the Herald connected more dots and noted that the shooting was in front of the same house where a standoff between Cape Verdean gang members and police took place. --A homeless man died in an accident yesterday at the Pine Street Inn.......

--Some hot dogs are just too hot to handle, at least in Franklin. Two women, Stacey Bower and Sonjalea Katz, were selling "hottie dogs," and the town commissioner stopped it because they didn't have the right permit. Luckily, the standoff ended peacefully, and four men turned themselves in. And then the media was allowed to send in the cameras! Things did not turn out as well......

Monday, 3/27 Magnolia Electric Co. (Songs: Ohia's Jason Molina) presides over an evening of......

Bostonist loves political showmanship. Really, we adore it. Because actual leadership disputes are all about budgets and negotiations and the careful balancing of interests, and that stuff is BOOOOOORING. But clever turns of phrase and chicken suits are fun, and without them, our vibrant democracy would be nothing more than Canada without the smart policy. That said, we are pretty underwhelmed by mayoral hopeful Maura Hennigan's decision to speak in Latin when challenging mayor Tom......
