Attention Boston Globe: We do not like friendly questions for our candidates. We want everyone to be polite, of course. Please stick to the issues. We don't care about what books they read to their kids, or if they like chocolate. We ? Really?

Not a lot of people would pair beer with museums. (Some people would not pair museums with fun at all, frankly.) And many people would not think to pair beer with chocolate. But what if you put them all together? You would get the Peabody Essex Museum’s Beer + Chocolate = Food of the Gods tasting. No one can really object to the name, at least.
This Saturday, September 12th, marks the return of a sweet Boston tradition, the Chocolate Bar at the Langham Hotel's Cafe Fleuri (we went last year, too). Every Saturday from September 12th through June 26th, the Langham offers an all-you-can-eat chocolate extravaganza. This year, Langham’s new pastry chef Jed Hackney has cooked up quite a theme as well as a few age appropriate additions. The theme for this year’s Chocolate Bar is, appropriately enough, Boston. The desserts explore a few of Boston’s famous neighborhoods and landmarks with a plethora of chocolate creations. The seven locations that inspired this year’s chocolate creations are: the North End, the South End, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Chinatown, Faneuil Hall, and of course Fenway Park. After the jump, our experience previewing the bar.
Cafe Fleuri's Chocolate Bar at the Langham Hotel has long been a decadent dreamland of chocolate delights, but this year it's taking things to the next level for its 20th anniversary. Pastry chef Trena Costello showed off her skills in a preview tasting last week; Bostonist particularly enjoyed pretty much everything in cups: marshmallow cup, cappuccino cup, and especially the childhood-evoking peanut butter and (grape) jelly cup with sliced grapes on top. (Eating the grape allowed us to feel healthy as we chowed down on chocolate all evening.)
