This weekend both NEMO and the Beantown Jazz festival will be taking place in town. NEMO is a showcase for New England artists, a networking opportunity for the little-known and the big fish. The performances will invade, occupy, and entertain at just about every venue in Boston. It's a great opportunity to see your favorite local band – or discover a favorite you never knew you had. It's a whole lot to take in,......

It seems everyone is talking about bib numbers, their knees, or the New Balance they hope are broken in by the time Marathon Monday rolls around. There’s not much time to train for the treck past Heartbreak Hill, but it’s not stopping lots of people out there. These bands aren’t on the run. They’re kicking up the amps and pumping pure, sweet decibels of goodness into our ears all week long. Tuesday 4/11 Shumai Indie......

We live in an iTunes nation. It's easy to pull a track down to your pod for under a buck. Bostonist still longs for cover art, liner notes, and that masterwork that is a multi-track collection of songs we call an album. Listed here is our much discussed, unbiased by payola, top 25 albums of 2005. After the jump you'll find where some of us stand individually on the subject of the years best. (Apparently......

Last night Clap Your Hands Say Yeah packed TT the Bears full of fans eager to hear if the highly-buzzed band would live up to expectations. The show sold out weeks ago, but a lucky few scored $5 tickets outside the venue. Playing seven tracks from their self-titled debut album and introducing two songs of new material, CYHSY sounded more polished than early tour reviews indicated. They stuck to the music, engaging the crowd......

Back in early August, Bostonist advised the timely purchase of tickets to see Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, performing at TT the Bears on September 14. Clearly someone was listening because the show has long sold out and a frenzy of desperate Craigslist posts (buying, not selling) has since ensued. The story follows suit for Sufjan Stevens, playing with Laura Veirs at the Somerville Theatre on September 8. Fortunately, the lineup of highly lauded bands......

Bostonist has felt like Boston's been pretty slow lately. Sure, there are fun things to do, but when the heat index is high and the humidity's sweltering, it's easiest to just go to the beach. However, Bostonist wants to alleviate your tension by telling you about a couple of things. (And Bostonist apologizes for failing to mention the Grizzly Bear show at TT's last week: we'd "recount" it, but generally, live reviews just make you......

Bostonist owes apologies to both the venerable bastion of journalism The Metro and the lovely Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Bostonist got the new wave band confused with Get Him Eat Him. Bostonist averages four hours of sleep a night due to circumstance. Bostonist doesn't recommend it because it makes you stupid and you easily confuse monosyllabic bands with funny names. So Saturday night, May 28th, The Plan at Great Scott will feature hottie......
