Deirdre Dagata is no longer the voice of mid-day pop radio in Boston. Clear Channel, the owner of Jam'n and Kiss, made the decision this month to consolidate their DJ staff. The move sounds like smart business practices; they're planning to sink the savings into internet and sales operations. Bostonist was on hand Thursday when hip hop journalist and SoleSides co-founder Jeff Chang spoke at Tufts. Jeff gave a fascinating lecture about his award winning book Can't Stop, Won't Stop: A History of the Hip Hop Generation. After the lecture, many in the crowd patiently stood in line, waiting for a chance to chat briefly with Jeff while he signed copies of his book. Jeff also asked for questions after his talk. MBTA has cancelled the night owl service and now Boston Taxi drivers are looking for more money per ride. Bostonist is sure when you put two and two together on this one there will be more drunks hitting the road in cars. It wouldn’t surprise us if the state legislature raises the OUI fines from the minimum/maximum of $500/$5,000 to $1,000/$10,000 for first time offenders.
