Is it just us, or does it seem like whenever the Bruins have the spotlight to themselves, they lose? When they play the same night as the Celtics, or Patriots, they're fine, but give everyone else the night off, and it feels like we always have to lead with a Bruins loss. Maybe it's just us. But they deserve better. They certainly deserved better last night, as they dropped a 4-3 OT game in Toronto.......

"Half the guys in our league couldn't shoot 15-for-21 if they were in a gym by themselves," said Doc Rivers. The man would know, having coached Kedrick Brown, Gerald Green, and Brian Scalabrine over the years. But 15-for-21 were the numbers Toronto rained down on the C's from 3-point-land, dropping the C's to their first division loss of the season. It was perhaps the Celtics' poorest defensive game of the year; the Raptors shot 58%......

The Five Brothers, aka Mitt Romney's kids who all blog for Dad, are toothy, cute, and so wholesome it could make your brain bleed. They strike us as mostly harmless sorts who just want to tell the world how cool their Dad is. But they do not, under any circumstances, need to be playing touch football with streamers dangling around their butts. The Team Romney football game marks the second time that Bostonist has seen......

Dave Schlafman won the Ecospot contest sponsored by CurrentTV and the Alliance for Climate Protection. For the contest, Schlafman had to animate a brief public service announcement about the climate crisis. Not only was his animation of elephants falling from the sky clever, but the theme of sustainability inspired his animation process. Schlafman told Bostonist, "I decided to draw and paint on recycled paper bags for the backgrounds...keeping with the spirit of the contest (and......

As Red Sox fans we've become accustomed to the various tauntings (they're clearly jealous), pepto-fueled stressful evenings, and many bleary-eyed mornings. However no matter what curve balls (pun intended) our beloved Boys of Summer, er October, throw at us, we will always declare ourselves proud members of Red Sox Nation. Turns out our all-weather team allegiance is nothing new. One of Boston's most giving and interesting daughters, Isabella Stewart Gardner, was a passionate Red......

As it gets closer to Halloween for LAist, a contributer recollects her tale of staring down the serial killer, Richard Ramirez, otherwise known as the Night Stalker. Other happy Los Angeles thoughts include an interview with Jack Kehler of The Big Lebowski (he was the Dude's landlord), a beautiful and magical photographic moment in Venice......

After a week full of intense competition, the finalists in this year's Boston Comedy Festival Contest took the stage last night at the Cutler Majestic. The pressure was already high because they would be judged by Lifetime Achievement Award honorees Shelley Berman and Bill Dana, Comic of the Year winner Lewis Black, and a range of industry bigwigs. It was bound to happen that someone was going to comment on the looks of former First Lady of Massachusetts and aspiring First Lady for the United States Ann Romney. Mitt and Ann Romney are good-looking in that ever-so-wholesome, corn-fed kind of way. It's also not surprising that Playboy tackles the subject of First Lady Hotness by asking which one is sexiest. But it is surprising that they included Bill Clinton in the poll......

Don’t let the heat wave fool you: It’s pumpkin season. If you need proof, you can find it tomorrow at the Topsfield Fair, where dozens of farmers will haul in Jabba-the-Hutt-sized gourds as part of the fair’s Giant Pumpkin Contest. Last year’s winner tipped the scales at 1,347.5 pounds—about half the weight of a Mini Cooper. (Bostonist also recommends checking out the fair’s birds of prey, chick hatchery, and racing pigs.) Mitt Romney is throwing an unusual contest. After his thuggy aides tried to drive people away by pretending to be police officers, Romney would like to bring the masses a little closer to him. Just as former Massachusetts governor and current presidential aspirant Mitt Romney tries to disengage himself from another man's sex scandal, he makes himself sexier in an ad that features him in jogging shorts.
