Well, nobody expected that. For the second year in a row, the New England Patriots were bounced out of the playoffs, at home, by an allegedly inferior team. Last year, Baltimore crushed the good guys. It got way worse yesterday as the New York Jets shocked, well, everyone outside of their lockerroom, and beat the Patriots, 28-21.

Ho hum. Another weekend, another playoff-bound team battered, pummeled, and tied up like a Christmas ham by the Patriots. This would be getting almost boring if it weren't so unexpected, and so much fun.
We had a flashback yesterday afternoon around 4 p.m. We won't draw any conclusions from it yet, but, we liked what we saw. The Patriots frankly looked beat early in the fourth quarter, down 20-10 to the Ravens. And then, something changed. Tom Brady and Deion Branch got their Super Bowl MVP grooves back, the defense found a way to quash the Ravens attack, and Stephen Gostkowski looked like he could kick through a blizzard.
The Patriots didn't need the Randy Moss saga to be supremely focused on today's game with Baltimore. The Ravens were clearly better than the Pats in the playoffs, and we think Bill Belichick is still annoyed about it. Without Moss, he can also play the "nobody thinks we can win" card with a straight face.
Deion Branch spoke to the media after his trade back to the Patriots and confirmed he is an entirely different person from Randy Moss. In case there was some doubt about that, Branch clarified it for us straight away by saying "That’s the first thing I wanted to let you all know: I’m not here to replace Randy. I’m not Randy Moss. I wasn’t Randy Moss when I was here."
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the New England Patriots acquired Deion Branch from the Seattle Seahawks for a fourth-round pick. A Branch deal was rumored since the Randy Moss trade. Branch, who reportedly had been in communication with Tom Brady for almost a week about returning to the Pats, was dealt to Seattle in 2006 for a first-round pick after, yes, a contract dispute.
Bill Belichick chatted up the media today about Wednesday's trade of Randy Moss to the Minnesota Vikings for a 2011 third-round draft pick. While some fans of the Patriots are skeptical of the trade, Belichick says the team will be fine without Moss. "I have confidence in our players, if they continue to work hard and improve that we'll be competitive and we'll be able to win games," he said.
The Boston Celtics (35-18) four-game road swing continued with a third consecutive victory on Friday, a 96-76 decision over the Portand Trailblazers. Ray Allen paced the Green with 21 points, 11 coming in the fourth quarter as the home team tried to rally. "Ray is going to get traded tomorrow," Doc Rivers said. "We're going to keep saying it so he can keep playing well."
Couple thoughts and musings while lamenting a loss to the New England Patriots biggest rivals, and wondering why in 'tarnation did the Pats stop running the ball in the second half of the Indy game.... The Pats are 6-2 and in great shape in the AFC East. Yes, now we will have to head to Indy to get to the Super Bowl, but as all Bostonists are stating, Tom Brady is 10-0 in domes....
ESPN.com, Boston.com, et al are reporting that Wide Receiver and former Super Bowl MVP Deion Branch has been traded to the Seattle Seahawks for Seattle's 1st round draft pick in 2007. Branch had been a holdout through all of Patriots training camp, up until and including yesterday's 19-17 victory.
Whoever said that you "can't win 'em all" might have had a brief audience with Bill Belichick before yesterday’s matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Patriots lackluster performance and effort yesterday was just enough to keep them from being run out of the building, and that is about it. The Patriots were basically playing what would be considered the second string, if this were earlier in the season, due to their rash of...
Yesterday at Gillette Stadium, the New England Patriots bested the visiting New Orleans Saints 24-17 behind a stellar 1st half from Tom Brady and the Pats offense, and a defense that in the second half did just enough to beat the visiting Saints on a very sad day for the Patriots and Bill Belichick. Following the game, Coach Belichick dropped a bigger bomb than Tom Brady's 60 yard strike to Andre' Davis late in...
It’s tough to complain about the Boston sports scene, especially with all the successes over the past few years... But let's be honest... The Indianapolis Colts took the defending champs to the proverbial woodshed last night, and it wasn't pretty.
While Tom Brady was hardly the focus of Sunday night's contest, the Patriots were able to overcome a 16-7 4th quarter deficit and rally to overcome the visiting Buffalo Bills 21-16. The minions of "the Krafty one" were able to pull of an inspiring comeback that began with a meager 10:37 remaining in the contest. After a penalty-filled lackluster contest in the first half that ended 3-0 in favor of the visiting Bills, the Pats...
