One hundred skiers are trapped on a chair lift at the Sugarloaf Ski Resort in Carrabassatt, Maine. The lift broke abruptly and knocked several skiers to the ground, a drop of 30-40 feet. The ski patrol is using ropes to lower trapped skiers from the Spillaway East chair lift to the ground. A spokesman said wind could be a factor. Red Line train service originally disrupted by Tuesday afternoon's derailment at Alewife Station in Cambridge may still be affected on Wednesday. The MBTA said buses will replace rail service between Harvard and Alewife stations until the derailed car is moved. State transportation secretary Jeffrey Mullan said a "random mechanical failure" caused the incident. The fourth car of a six-car train derailed around 4 p.m. All 65 passengers were evacuated safely. Bostonist awoke this morning to breaking news of the latest terrorist attack hitting the London transportation system.
