Beachgoers, State Trooper Matthew Waples, and Hull/Hingham animal control officer Leslie Badger saved a 14-year old silky terrier named Foxy from drowning, believe it or not, at the hands of her owner. Barbara O’Driscoll, 60, of Cohasset, allegedly dragged the 12-pound pooch into the water at Nantasket Beach in Hull. Witnesses alerted Trooper Waples who brought the animal control officer in to care for Foxy. Waples said O’Driscoll said "It's just a dog." Badger performed CPR and "mouth-to-snout" resuscitation en route to the VCA South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Foxy is still being treated there with oxygen therapy, IV fluids and antibiotics. O’Driscoll pleaded not guilty to animal cruelty, disorderly conduct and violating a ban on dogs at Hingham District Court on Wednesday. She allegedly admitted to drinking several glasses of wine. Boston police arrested seven people during the public celebration of Boston's Stanley Cup victory and five people were in court Thursday to face charges Three were arrested for malicious destruction of property, one for assault and battery on a public employee, and another for inciting a riot, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. The suspect charged with disorderly conduct allegedly dared police to arrest him by saying "Come and get me, you [expletive].” He also allegedly extend his middle finger at the booking photo camera. Dario Finkel, 26, of Salem is charged with attempted murder for allegedly stuffing a baby wipe in his 7-week-old son's mouth, dropping him to the floor and throwing him. He's held without bail and has a restraining order against. Finkel was allegedly enraged by the baby's crying last night. There were bruises on the infant's stomach and upper lip, according to EMS. Finkel is also charged with two counts of reckless endangerment of a child, one count of assault and battery with injury on a child under 14, and one count of domestic assault and battery. The former general manager of WHDH-TV is now also a former advertising executive at WPEC-TV (West Palm Beach) after being arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest on Sunday at a restaurant. Police said Randi Goldklank was "intoxicated and doing inappropriate acts" prior to being arrested. The restaurant called 911 because Goldklank was allegedly "touching herself, removing her top, and dancing on a pole like a stripper" and wouldn't leave. An officer reported her speech was slurred and that Goldklank warned he would be on the news because she worked for a TV station. Goldklank was arrested at Logan Airport in 2008 for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and the case was continued without a finding. She resigned from WHDH. [Globe] more ›

--The MBTA put out its most recent crime statistics. The good news is that "Part I" crimes (homicide, rape, robbery, larceny) are down by 10%, and the most violent crimes are down 18.5%. "Part II" crimes (simple assault, vandalism, and the grab-bag that is "Disorderly Conduct") are up by 12%. Larceny is the most common "Part I" crime, while fraud is the most common "Part II" crime. --Meet Dirus Gaines, a man with an iron constitution. Mr. Gaines' seemingly lifeless body was found by the railroad tracks on Wednesday afternoon in Framingham. --An alleged Bad Seed brought out the "Never a Good Idea" line from the BPD, and this time they wrote, "Disrespecting Mother Never a Good Idea." On Thursday in Roxbury, a 13-year-old suffered a case of hormones from hell. She was, according to the report, "swearing and throwing objects" at her own mother, and she kept on with that behavior when the police arrived at the scene.
