Today, the Globe ran a sensationalistic headline claiming that teens found pop star Rihanna responsible for being (allegedly) beaten by boyfriend Chris Brown. However, the Globe didn't provide the actual survey results relevant to its headlining stars, or any helpful information for people who might be in difficult domestic situations. Fortunately, we found the facts. Of about 200 Boston youths (ages 12 to 19) surveyed by the Boston Public Health Commission:

  • Former FBI agent John Connolly says Whitey Bulger called him about surrendering. On the other hand, the Connolly character in "The Departed" was a conniving liar. [Boston Globe]
  • A suspect in a stabbing from last May is now officially being sought. The BPD have put out a Most Wanted poster for Pedro Ortiz. [Boston Herald]

    -- A Malden teen was shot in Somerville last night, the victim of an apparent drive-by shooting. The 15 year old was shot in the lung and is expected to survive. Police are seeking four suspects in the crime, last seen driving a green Dodge Stratus. [WBZTV; Somerville Journal]

    --Five men were arrested for the stabbing death of Terrence Jacobs, 16, last May. Everyone arrested is from Dorchester, except one man from Brockton. [Boston Globe]

    --Laurel Sweet at the Herald did a piece on the sharp rise in domestic violence in the state. The statistics are startling. She writes, "Authorities project that by New Year’s Eve 57 people will have died this year in Massachusetts because of domestic violence - a toll not seen in 15 years."
