Showtime is promoting the new season of its show Dexter, which is about a serial killer (Michael C. Hall), by dyeing water in city fountains blood-red. In some cities, residents couldn't miss the promotion. Philadelphia's Love Park Fountain bubbled up good and bloody if you're into that sort of thing. Bostonist was skeptical because, as we all know, the city is sensitive, quakes at the phrase "viral marketing," and doesn't like anything that might freak... more ›

TheANTI has been kicking it with custom made t-shirt designs since 2004. After moving into some semi-dedicated shop space (and out of their living rooms and kitchens) the crew of theANTI now has a pretty sweet line of designs available on t-shirts for $15, and hoodies for $30. Hats, totes, mixes, and DVDs round out the product line. Inspired by street art, the designs come from a collective of artists and have some great Boston themes.

theANTI is a Boston based company that prides itself on ideas and motivation. We've physically existed since June '04 when our first shirts were printed, but the idea of our own designs on t-shirts has been something we've all been playin with for a while... We finally stopped talking about it and did it, and the results have been nothing but pleasing so far.
From Boston Roots and the pruSign to the Boston Citgo and into Mission Hill they're taking on a new era this year with the release of the newest design: Redline, the winner of their 2007 design contest. The best contest we never entered. All four of the top winning designs are available on their site. more ›

Some people don't give crime a rest over the holidays, especially when they're under pressure to put presents under the tree. Today's BPD Blotter was filled up with people trying to fill their gift obligations at any cost. This morning's post had the following jarring change in tone: "Merry Christmas / Bank Window Smashed." (The police didn't get the perp.) Then, two guys took last-minute Christmas shopping way too seriously and tried to liberate $1,000... more ›

Is the state of television getting to be so poor (please see recent lineup of new reality shows and the cancellation of "Arrested Development") that we need to revert back to the days of Lynda Carter’s "Wonder Woman"? Well, it looks like it as AOL and Warner Brothers announced yesterday a partnership to bring 100 “vintage” shows to the Internet for all your viewing pleasure. Your favorites, like "Growing Pains", "Sisters", and the ever-popular "Welcome Back Kotter", will be airing exclusively on AOL for the price tag of zero dollars. Of course, to get this program, coined In2TV, which will total 300 episodes each month, you will be subjected to four 15-second commercials per show (puh-lease tell us they are “vintage” commercials…those Barbie commercials from ’86 are sweet!) and there will be no videotaping allowed of your favorite Kirk Cameron moment. Don’t expect to be seeing any popular syndicated programs like “Friends” online. Warner Brothers makes too much cash through syndication than to give it away for free. There will be trivia and games though to accompany each episode though. more ›

Bostonist has been enjoying Chris Elliott's humor ever since our parents let us stay up late one night back in the 80s and we saw him on Letterman. Elliott has continued to appear on Dave's show for years, and he went on to star in his own sitcom with his real father, Bob Elliott, on Fox back in 1990. Starring as a 30-year-old man who works as a paperboy living with his parents, Get A... more ›

"Me and You and Everyone we Know" opened last weekend, and this week Bostonist brought you a contest. Bostonist would like to congratulate Colleen C. and Ashley W. for winning the prize pack of DVDs, including Touching The Void, Y Tu Mamá Tambien, and Casa De Los Babys. They also get an IFC t-shirt, a tote, and a "Me and You..." soundtrack, along with passes to see the film. Thanks to everyone who entered. Perhaps next contest, it will be you expressing sentiments like those uttered by our winners this time: "No way! Wow, I've never won anything before as cool as this!" and "Are you kidding? I NEVER win anything!". Bostonist would like to suggest that we're all winners in this town, since we bring you the prize of our posts each day, for free! more ›
