Business is happening all over Boston:
Northeast Utilities, New England's largest utility system, is working toward electrifying Western Mass and parts of Connecticut for the purposes of recharging electric cars. Western Massachusetts Electric Company and the Connecticut Light and Power Company are seeking a Department of Energy grant to fund the construction of nearly 600 plug-in electric vehicle charging stations in homes and public places over the course of two years. Now we just need a car to plug into these stations.
Dr. Scott Reuben, an anesthesiologist at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, is being labeled “a medical Madoff” after an investigation by the hospital found that 21 of his published papers were fraudulent. Anesthesiology News, which first reported on the story, called Reuben’s apparent misdeeds “one of the largest known cases of academic misconduct.” So be careful if you’re headed into surgery over the next few days—the doctor putting you under may be a little on edge.
A classic salesman whose talents have been honed by his experience in the software industry, Agassi’s primary focus is customer convenience. “An electric vehicle was the name that was invented when we asked people to give up something from their car,” he explained. “You don’t need so fast: 28 mph is good, right? You don’t need all those seats: 2 is enough. It doesn’t need to look normal: 3 wheels!” Instead of trending toward the bizarre, Better Place hopes to give its consumers “a better car.”
