    Northeast Utilities, New England's largest utility system, is working toward electrifying Western Mass and parts of Connecticut for the purposes of recharging electric cars. Western Massachusetts Electric Company and the Connecticut Light and Power Company are seeking a Department of Energy grant to fund the construction of nearly 600 plug-in electric vehicle charging stations in homes and public places over the course of two years.
