Bostonist went down to the Loews Boston Common last night to catch that space odyssey film that everyone has been talking about. Yeah, that’s right Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Much to our dismay the show had been cancelled in lieu of the little known Lucas film Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Honestly we really did go hoping to catch Hitchhiker, we even checked Fandango. Seeing as they still had a couple thousand seats left for the 8:40 p.m. show, five digital screenings ran all day, we thought we might check it out rather than wait for the overpriced DVD bundle to hit shelves in the trilogy form.

Obviously the $250 ticket option is a stretch for Bostonist and friends, but we're sure some of you who have been pining for years over the whole "how did Darth Vader become a bad guy?" will get your answer one week before the rest of the galaxy on the 17th.

The other day, Bostonist walked by the Loew's theater on Tremont and did a double take. The Dark Side had commandeered the sidewalk and were freaking out little kids. They were there to promote the charity premiere of Episode III to benefit City Year Boston. The movie hits theaters on May 12th in 10 U.S. cities. The costumed folks are part of the 501st New England Garrison part of a Star Wars costuming fan club that currently holds a 2900+ membership. Aside from the pictures above there were Snowtroopers, Sith Lords, and Imperial Guards on the street.
