Ever get the feeling that life is turning into one long "Family Guy" episode? Particularly the episode in which the FBI shoots up Peter's VCR because he tries to tape "Monday Night Football"? The New England Patriots will finish up their regular season against the New York Giants Saturday, December 29, at 8:00 pm. Chances are good that they will win and enjoy a perfect record. But not everyone will be able to see it.

Okay, okay, this edition of "Series of Tubes" isn't all about Britney Spears, but local bloggers had plenty to say about her dopey performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. --Karen is far more sympathetic to Britney's case because America can't resist a story of someone like Spears. --Rude Boy finds similarities between Miz Spears and Family Guy. A debate then ensued as to whether or not it was appropriate to discuss Spears in the...
Vincent "Buddy" Cianci, former mayor of Providence who is currently in the federal pokey for conspiracy, is coming to Boston, and Boston is welcoming him with open arms.
Mid-season TV isn't all that exciting, but "The Winner" looked interesting because it starred Rob Corddry, who was tremendously successful as one of the most out-there correspondents on the Daily Show. (To relive the memories, see his piece on Boston, featuring the line, "Did you know Boston has a merit badge in corruption? It's called the Big Dig!") When he announced that he'd be leaving the Daily Show, it was natural to assume he could...
Seth McFarlane, creator of Family Guy and voice of Griffins - Stewey, Brian (the dog), and patriarch Peter as well as Quagmire, spoke at Harvard's Class Day yesterday. Today the Exercises of Commencement clog most of Cambridge and hoard the sheriff of Middlesex County. There's a choice of what to watch: Larry Summers' final charge to graduates at the helm of Harvard University, Jim Lehrer of News Hour on PBS, or the Family Guy. Academics...
Bostonist loves it when a cartoon show will animate a real life Bostonian and weave them into their plot line. Tom Brady has already been featured on “The Simpsons” and most recently, “The Family Guy." Besides that awful episode of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy”, the Red Sox haven’t been featured on many non-sports related television shows. Well, this morning WGBH changed all that by having a few Sox players from past and present turn into somewhat freaky cartoon versions of themselves on the kids’ show “Arthur.” Johnny Damon, Mike Timlin, and Edgar Renteria all leant their voices and likeness to three animated creatures who play baseball for a team called the Grebes. Damon is a bear named Playmon, Timlin is a deer named Winlin, and Renteria is also a bear named Bateria. (Can we all appreciate the double entendre that WGBH has created, please?) Of course, the Grebes help Arthur and his team win their first championship since 1918. And the strangest part of it all? The animal versions of the Sox players truly resemble them; Winlin's scruffy goatee makes him even more believable as Timlin.
AmericanDad.com is run, like many small internet businesses, off of a desktop computer and a server located remotely. The web magazine that serves as a resource for positive parenting, targeted to fathers, faces a struggle with Fox over brand identity. Typing out reviews, stories, and parenting tips from a renovated South End wharehouse space, AmericanDad.com’s founder and CEO, Peter Demers, is fighting to protect his magazines vs. Fox’s promotion of their bumbling father figure, Stan...
Sure, so the New England Patriots will not be suiting up for next week’s Super Bowl, but that doesn’t mean you have to be all depressed or anything. The Pats will keep showing up on the television without stepping foot on the field. You might recall last year’s Simpsons episode when Tom Brady lent his voice and cartoon-likeness to the show. Well, it seems Brady is also a fan of another Fox show, “The...
