Newbury Comics is opening a new location in Faneuil Hall. The New Kids On The Block are coming out with a new album on Tuesday. What better way to celebrate both than with a highly-regulated album signing? The Kids will be autographing The Block at Newbury at 1:00 p.m. next Saturday, September 6. They will only be signing The Block, so don't bring your NKOTB sleeping bag or pillow expecting them to be adorned.......

-- A man was shot and killed in Mattapan last Thursday night. Police say that Victor Torres, 21, was killed by a single gunshot wound. Torres was not known to police, who are still trying to determine whether he was the intended victim of the gunman. No arrests have been made. The shooting took place blocks away from the residence where five month-year-old Alianna Peguero was shot in an apparently gang-related incident. Universal Hub has......

The organizers of the Boston Silent Dance Experiment can extol the artistic virtues of urban fun and collective improv performance to Bostonist, but this was merely 13 minutes of subversive bliss to most of the 300+ silent dancers that converged on Faneuil Hall this past Saturday afternoon. Unlike most clubs, everyone was anxious to join the nearest awkward stranger in the synchronized yet messy groove that ensued. Although the participants had very "flexible" definitions......

The Banditos Misteriosos are back with a new adventure up their collective sleeve: Boston's First Silent Dance Experiment. On this Saturday, February 23rd at 1:00 p.m. tourists and Bostonians walking by the Sam Adams Statue in front of Faneuil Hall will be treated to a unique sight when hundreds of people hit play on their......

Is it even an argument at this point? Boston's Mayor Menino caused the Patriots' loss by planning the city's victory party a little too early and much too transparently. Last Wednesday, well before the unthinkable happened, the Herald was already proclaiming, "Tommy, you might as well have suited up for the hated Giants." While the mourning (and the blame game) continues, political life must also go on. With the Massachusetts primary being held tomorrow, the......

Republican presidential candidate and Internet sensation Ron Paul doesn't need Oprah. He doesn't need connections to the hot-shot politicians. He just needs a blimp. This week, Phillyist saw the waters of a landmark fountain run red for a Showtime marketing stunt, the Phils pull ahead, and some serious nostalgia. Showtime is promoting the new season of its show Dexter, which is about a serial killer (Michael C. Hall), by dyeing water in city fountains blood-red. In some cities, residents couldn't miss the promotion. Philadelphia's Love Park Fountain bubbled up good and bloody if you're into that sort of thing. Bostonist was skeptical because, as we all know, the city is sensitive, quakes at the phrase "viral marketing," and doesn't like anything that might freak......

Wagamama, the wildly popular UK-based noodle chain that opened restaurants in Faneuil Hall last April and Harvard Square last month, reminds us of IKEA: slick, modern, not terrible quality for the prices, and definitely designed to appeal to the masses. Like the London Wagamamas we’ve visited, the Harvard Square restaurant has a spare, modern aesthetic—diners sit cafeteria-style at long wooden tables set with paper placemats, which also serve as dessert menus and as a place......

Boston Rob Mariano has many talents - namely, the ability to extend his fame by starring on numerous reality shows. Most recently, he was at Faneuil Hall to judge auditions for the new reality show he's hosting, "Tontine." The "Tontine" auditions were mellow, but the auditions in San Diego turned into a full-on melee. A reader sent a YouTube clip of Boston Rob showing why he might want to consider auditioning for "The Contender," in......

Elvis Presley died this week, 30 years ago, on August 16, 1977. Boston is making like Memphis by holding various tributes to the King. First on the list is Mayor Menino's Movie Night on the Common. Tonight, the city will show Jailhouse Rock for free. The festivities will include a costume contest, and we're dying to find out if Menino will step into a sequined jumpsuit and throw on a pompadour wig. That we would......

We're in love with Beard Papa, so much so that Mike's Pastry is jealous. We were already inclined to love Beard Papa when we saw his benevolent eyes and puff of gray hair. He's grandfatherly, comforting, and altogether harmless. That is, until you eat the cream puffs he's pushing at Faneuil Hall. Then you'll be hooked, and it's awfully tough to break a Beard Papa habit. Once you order at the stall, the Beard Papa......

We had announced this earlier, but "Boston Rob" Mariano is coming back to town to hold auditions for his new reality show, "Tontine," which involves gaining possession of keys through various complicated challenges. You will need a passport, and you should check out the official Tontine website for more eligibility information. If the prospect......

There's a little trick we've picked up. Walk a little bit and shave $5 off your cab fare. Not only are you more likely to find an empty cab on Tremont Street at 2 a.m. but there will be less navigating one way streets than if you try and pick it up from Faneuil Hall af bar close (when everyone else is looking for a ride). Of course it's not foolproof, luckily most of......

The Armenian Memorial, a proposed park, would pay homage to the Armenian Genocide that saw the loss of an estimated 1.5 million lives in 1915. Tom Menino has voiced his opinion: no way. He doesn't want the Greenway to become home to a number......

The original Boston reality television star, Boston Rob Mariano, is back with his own reality-tv show, Tontine. The game revolves around keys, with the theme "possession is everything." Since Mariano is a vet of Survivor and The Amazing Race, we expect that Tontine will incorporate characteristics of the two.......

--The Suffolk County DA's office announced that LaDawn Hicks, the sister of murder defendant Jason Meeks, has been charged with witness intimidation. Boston NOW reports that Hicks and Meeks made a three-way phone call from jail "urging" a witness not to testify, and it blew right back at her. Meeks allegedly shot Alvaro Sanders in Roxbury in 2001.
