The Patriots might not be the only game in town in Foxboro if "casino moguls" or "gaming developers" have their way, according to a Saturday report in the Boston Herald. If Massachusetts ever gets a casino gambling bill passed into law, Route 1 in Foxboro is on the short list of sites to choose from.

As of about 6:30 p.m. tonight, 112,000 Massachusetts electric customers were still without power. There are 83,000 National Grid clients in the dark, mostly in the Attleboro and Scituate areas, along with 29,000 NSTAR customers in South Shore, Cape Cod, and the Metro West towns. National Grid's website has estimates for every city or town with outages.
Soccer fans got quite a treat this weekend in Foxboro as the 2010 FIFA World Cup Champion Spanish National Soccer team visited Patriot Place and Gillette Stadium on Friday and Saturday for a chance to meet young soccer players at the WeGotSoccer shop and to play Team USA in an international friendly match, respectively.
David McCall, 72, of Wakefield was sent for a mental evaluation after facing charges that he shot and killed his wife at their home. MCall called 911 himself to report an alleged murder-suicide. Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone said there were previous problems at their home, but said this was a "domestic violence" incident. Police have the alleged murder weapon. [WHDH]
Joe DeNucci is wrapping up his term as state Auditor next week, and he's going out swinging. Today, it's dams. They're a mess. DeNucci says 100 dams in 62 cities have been rated unsafe or poor in an engineering inspection. Six dams, one each in Athol, Bolton, Danvers and Dudley, and two in Foxboro. Worcester County had the most damaged dams with 32.
The Associated Press reports that 102 fans were placed in protective custody and 7 hospitalized for getting too smashed at Sunday's Patriots-Jets football game. Foxboro Police Chief Edward O'Leary said the 102 blitzed fans were the most detained after a game in his 25 years as chief. [AP, via Projo]
Part of I-95 were closed Sunday after a tanker truck crashed and spilled some 11,000 gallons of jet fuel in Foxboro. The Mass. Department of Environmental Protection is coordinating the cleanup of the affected area. Foxboro Fire said the spill was contained and their focus is on curbing soil contamination, and ensuring that water wells in Mansfield and Foxboro are safe. The trucking company is C. White & Son Inc., which has a record of three spills and four accidents that resulted in more than $500,000 in fines.
