Note to Rep. Stephen Lynch: Fox News Channel's business guy Neil Cavuto isn't interested in doing you any favors even if you voted against the historic health care reform bill that was signed by President Obama on Tuesday. Cavuto hosted Lynch on his 4 p.m. show on FNC on Thursday to delve into possible political threats levied against Lynch for voting against health care reform. Think of it as a rematch of Eric Massa vs. Glenn Beck, minus the tickle fights.
Senator-elect Scott Brown stepped into the nation's media sweet spot on Sunday by appearing on ABC's This WeekWith George Stephanopolous and chatting with Barbara Walters. In addition to a healthy dose of biographical data, including the truck and the nudity, Brown dropped an
"Everyone really is the 41st Senator" on us. He's also a fiscal conservative/independent thinker, too. Never saw that coming. Brown says he's pro-choice and considers gay marriage "settled" in Massachuetts.
What sounds like a really bad joke came true on Friday when Fox News Channel produced Raymond Flynn - yes, that one - as an expert commentator on the first-ever meeting between President Barack Obama and Pope Benedict XVI that took place at the Vatican this morning. Flynn, Mayor of Boston from 1984-93, served as Ambassador to the the Holy See while Bill Clinton was president, which apparently makes him the voice of American Catholics. The meeting with the Pope is more important to Obama, Flynn said, because he believes Obama has not been open to Catholics as president despite the importance of the Catholic voting bloc. Flynn said the two leaders would seek common ground on issues they agree on, which proves Flynn can observe the obvious. Two really odd comments: Flynn said the Notre Dame issue wouldn't come up, which seemed to disappoint him. Flynn also described the Pontiff as "dogmatic," and appeared to use it as a compliment. No video of Flynn's appearance was available yet.
We're not quite sure how the day is going to end. We could see 100% voter turnout (not likely), a huge upset in the democratic gubernatorial race with a write in campaign for Dukakis (also unlikely), September 19, 2006 being declared Fox News Channel Day by both the City of Boston and the State of Massachusetts (boy, we thought this was impossible), people roaming the streets with speech peppered with Yarr and Matey (how is that not possible?). Whatever happens, the evening will likely involve waiting for the results of the primary election today while pondering the true meaning of the word booty in the modern lexicon.
