The WCVB news helicopter made a "precautionary landing" or "emergency landing" on the Boston Common Tuesday night around 6 p.m.

If the crocuses and unexpected sunshine haven't clued you in, robbery suspect Timothy Flaherty, 51 of Lawrence, has provided further evidence that spring is upon us. Last night, after allegedly robbing a victim on Beacon Hill, Flaherty led police on a wild chase through the Common and the Public Garden before diving into the Frog Pond Lagoon to elude capture. (We assume that it looks much bigger in the dark.)
No indication as of yet that these events have been cancelled. Given the weather, double-check with the venue.
Taking a cue from our friends at Londonist and DCist, the Bostonist Photo of the Day feature is looking for your images of Boston that have been photoshopped to be kooky, crazy, and fun. Take a look at some of the Londonist Touch Up London photos for inspiration. This one from Stoofus particularly caught our eye with its whimsical nature.
We're playing a little game we call "what's Tommy's name not on?" The Zamboni that smoothes the ice at the Frog Pond? It's on there. The welcome sign to Boston? It's on there. The toothbrushes the Boston Public Health Commission distributes? It's on there (and happens to be absurdly huge.) The Boston Convention and Exhibition Center? Yeah, that's it. Menino's name does not adorn the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center is not yet called...
Deval's hours old administration has stepped up and already thrown the switch quick putting the updated website live. It has only been a matter of hours since the Patrick administration has officially been the "Patrick administration" and the mass.gov website is dripping with the new governor and lieutenant governor's names. The top news story on mass.gov is an announcement of the inauguration providing a link to the new page devoted to Patrick/Murray, no longer Romney/Healey. Changing over the names emblazoned on fixtures is one of the things we're always curious about. If Menino is ever voted out of office how long will it take to remove his name from all of those signs and websites it adorns – he's even got a placard on the Zamboni that smoothes the ice on the Frog Pond. One thing that can be done quickly these days is changing the name on a website. Patrick's team has done just that.
'Yeah, I'm a swinger,' Menino said. 'Give me a break. I've been married for 40 years.' He also pointed out that he doesn't smoke or drink, and doesn't have a favorite television show.We enjoy a good spoof page now and again. And we're happy to see that hizzonah is in good company with Mitt and Ted. But it's odd that he can't access myspace from work, does that mean he's actually working all day?
Bostonist was exposed to Boy in Static (Alex Chen) a mere four weeks ago thanks to the wonder of our favorite online photo gallery (and oh so much more) Flickr. Ever since that moment we have been listening to his album on late night drives home to the suburbs, in the lingering hours of a night of studying (yes, some of us are STILL in school), and just generally whenever we get a free moment.
