Galleries and studios are littered all over the south end, though a particular concentration of them is housed in the SoWa Artists Guild at 450 Harrison Street. SoWa, because we know it hasn't caught on, is Boston's answer to SoHo – and is a (poor) contraction of South of Washington. In addition to participation in the USEA open studios this weekend, the SoWa guild also hosts open studios the first Friday of every month. Walking tours of the South End will leave from the BCA during the afternoon (noon, 1:30, and 3:30 pm) and head over to the SoWa guild, from their folks are on their own. Though the studios are all walk able there will be some shuttle busses available for those who need them.
