--The BPD must love that Burger King commercial that punks customers with the information that BK has discontinued the Whopper. Upon hearing that information, the customers promptly freak out. Perhaps a man thought he wasn't going to get his Whopper in Dorchester last night. Police had to go to the Burger King on Washington Street when a guy returned to the BK after security officers tossed him. He assaulted them and had weed on him.......

Those angry manholes are at it again, and unfortunately for all of us, they're stepping up their game. This Bostonist was walking home this afternoon and noticed some black smoke coming out of a manhole on Hanover Street. The North End is a pretty crazy place, so Bostonist didn't think much of it and continued on our way. We should know better than to trust a manhole, any manhole. The smoke kept coming and......

While many argue about the discrimination in this city, this ideology is also affecting the vermin in the city sewers as well. As many shocked restaurant patrons came to find out last Thursday, rats do not add to the ambience when inhaling a filet mignon on Newbury Street. Louis J. Antonellis, a local labor union guy for Electrical Workers Local 103, decided he had had enough with the Capital Grille after fighting with them for......

While the world readies for the final match of the FIFA World Cup, Boston gets ready to watch it. The French and Italians will match up on Sunday afternoon – and everyone has an opinion on where the best place to watch the game will be. Mayor Menino has sanctioned a World Cup Party of sorts on City Hall Plaza this Sunday. A big screen broadcast of the match will have capacity to hold up......

So after Bostonist announced its little obsession with the cupcake on Monday, we thought we’d come clean entirely. We actually ventured to the North End on Saturday for one thing and one thing only: to try the cupcakes at Lulu’s Bake Shoppe on Hanover Street. After we read about them in the Globe last month, Bostonist kept seeing mention of this tiny “shoppe” and how great their ‘cakes are. After a walk through the ever......

As Bostonist walked home from a very important post-work meeting (Happy Hour), we were a little confused when we came to the Park Street T stop to find it surrounded by police cars, ambulances, and blocked off with yellow "Police Line: Do Not Cross" tape. At first, we assumed that some T skidded off the tracks or someone passed out due to the heat in one of those special unair-conditioned cars that we all love.......

Bostonist just learned that Dunkin Donuts and Absolute Vodka have become partners...No, this doesn't mean the new way to bring yourself back will be with a Dunkaccino Martini during your coffee break. It means the Jim Beam and Absolute Vodka distributors, French based Pernod Ricard SA, and U.S. based Fortune Brands Inc., purchased Allied Domecq PLC, the U.K. based parent company of Dunkin Donuts, this past April. Back in 1990, William Rosenberg sold his Canton-based......

Today is Valentine's Day, welcomed by Hallmark stores and dreaded by all singletons in the city. Bostonist won't be spending it with anyone special this year, except for Jack Bauer, so we looked into some other options than a romantic candlelit dinner for one. Here's what we came up for those of you looking to go out tonight: The Boston Young Professionals Association has planned a "My Tie Valentine's Day Event" for those looking......

While Bostonist usually spends Thursday night on the couch with the Donald and his flunkies, Bostonist ventured down to the North End last night to take in a show at the Improv Asylum. In a basement club on Hanover Street, the Improv Asylum is an entertaining show for a reasonable price of $15 ($20 for Friday and Saturday). With a group of 5 actors, they touched on subjects from Martha Stewart carrying on a love......
