Today is Whitey Bulger's 79th birthday. To celebrate, the FBI is doubling the reward for his capture. You'll take home a cool $2 million if you can bring Whitey into the fed's hands. Considering Whitey's fundage, though, the man could pay you way more to not turn him in. So what'll it be? Can Whitey make it to fourteen years on the run, or will the two mil prove too tempting? Update: Bulger is now also wanted for sexual abuse in addition to murder and racketeering charges.

The internets ungulate more than any other of our friends. There seems to be a new kid on the block every other day with others just disappearing. It’s nice to know that some friends stick around for a while. Exploit Boston officially turned five years old today. That means it was post-boom, pre-web 2.0, and, oh, does any of that nonsense even matter? In the last five years the website has served as an events calendar (with curator Sooz), a pool of event related photographs, a radio station featuring local bands, and monthly game nights. The Exploit Boston presence has spread to a profile on MySpace, HeyLetsGo, Upcoming, and a stream of artists from the radio station tracked on Tourfilter. You can always contribute your Flickr photos to the Exploit Boston photo pool, catch up with a game of Mastermind or Apples to Apples at the game nights (next one is on February 6 at Soul Fire in Allston), or, you can always tune into the radio station and hear good local music. It’s like your very own hype machine – but only for bands in Boston, many of whom you’ll be able to checkout at a live show nearby. The radio station is set to turn four in a couple of months, and that’s more than we can say about some of the FM stations in the area (ahem. Mike?). Happy Birthday Exploit Boston.

Some thoughts while preparing for a sunny Memorial Day Weekend cookout… David Wells had some bad luck earlier this week, taking a baseball off his right knee. The 43 year-old lefty was pitching quite well until he took a Travis Lee line drive off his knee which knocked him out of the contest. Wells was pitching quite well, leaving after giving up 1 run on 5 hits (and no walks) over 4 1/3 innings. Although...

Londonist prepares a Happy Birthday bath for Buddah this week and then things get all cliched. A madman goes on a rampage while axe-wielding and London's mayor warns an American diplomat to avoid the kitchen if the heat bothers him so much.

Today is the Ides of March, on which Julius Caesar was famously murdered. It's not a special day with a special name because he was murdered, it just happens to be the day he got his. Bostonist remembers it because some time during our education, we had to read Shakespeare's play about the life of Caesar (cleverly titled "Julius Caesar"), and there's a part where a soothsayer tells Caesar to "beware the Ides of March." Caesar figures the guy's crazy ("He is a dreamer. Let us leave him."), but later, well, you know.

Samuel Adams is introducing a new beer to its family. Celebrating Boston's 375, Sam Adams released for "draft only" a Colonial Ale at the BeerSummit Octoberfest, on tap at the Tour Center in JP. What followed was an advertising campaign wishing Boston a Happy Birthday and conincidentally placing the beer on tap at a lot of Boston's beer friendly local bars. The much publicized Boston 375 Colonial Ale was a hit in the limited locations it was served and a second round was released. Bostonist has found it over near Faneiul Hall (where a statue of Sam Adams stands and the yearly Jim Koch dunk occurs), at the Thirsty Scholar in Somerville (we had a heated debate at the tour center about which side of the line T.S. was on) and recently down at the Joshua Tree in Davis Square. 375 was told by Northeastern Co-op intern at Sam Adams that the brewmasters tried to brew it “more like Sam Adams would have brewed beer,” it uses more molasses in fermentation that sugary malt like modern beer.

Bostonist won't waste your precious time fawning over our most very favorite Superbowl quarterback, but Tom Brady turns the ripe old age of 28 today. Happy Birthday, Tom. Bostonist got to thinking that Brady is only 28, has 3 Superbowl titles, a hot girlfriend, and a sweet condo on Commonwealth. Although Brady does have a few years on Bostonist, we would like to think that we too can achieve all that. Okay, we'll settle for...
