Sure it's a few months old, but we found this Jan. 1 image of Boston completely gripping. The level of detail is phenomenal, and the composition is well balanced. Note how the taller buildings in the upper left side of the frame are offset by the snowy river on the right side. Five exposure HDR photographed by ian.poley on a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi. more ›

Brian Matiash is one of our favorites when it comes to HDR photography. He came up with this photo during a solo photo walk through Boston's empty streets on New Year's Day. Lots of detail, lots of texture, and excellent use of lighting. more ›

elliot haney takes us back to JP for the second day in a row with this high impact shot of our last snow. The slower shutter speed really gives the snow a life of its own and the dynamic lighting adds drama to the photo. The HDR processing is very well done and gives us lots of detail to examine within the photo. more ›

Brian Matiash has a very detailed HDR image as today's PotD. The textures in this are great, from the stone walls, to the smooth metal, and slick glass. It's also a good representation for the use of reflection which in this case adds significant depth to the photo. more ›

kfdavila took a beautiful fog shot and using HDR, was able to add a subtle layer of depth to the image. You can easily spot the lights in the background, but if you look closely you can also see the building and its windows in the center of the frame. A well conceptualized photo in our opinion. more ›

For the second day in a row, we're presenting you with an HDR photo. In contrast to yesterday's more abstract image, today's photo shows a more natural scene. RajRem took an ordinary subject and made a stand out photograph with it. Using the Eliot Bridge as a base, he used HDR techniques to give us a bright and colorful image. HDR photography is often thought of us gritty or industrial in nature, but RajRem's photo clearly shows that HDR techniques can give you a vast array of finished looks for your photos. more ›

We don't often have an HDR make photo of the day since the topic seems to polarize the photographic community, but Iceburns has one that we thought had the right mix of composition and tone mapping. Taking 3 hand held exposures and blending them into an HDR, this shot gives great color in the rocks and water, while keeping the sky from getting blown out. more ›

This HDR shot comes from photographer Brian Matiash. Brian and a friend had Trinity Church all to themselves for a brief time on Saturday and came out with some excellent images. more ›

We just wrapped up our coverage of Photoshop World and perhaps Bostonist contributor Dellplain put some new techniques to use in this fantastic photo of the Hynes Convention Center T station. This HDR is so lifelike you can almost feel the years of dust and grime. The green columns and yellow stripe are well set against the surrounding earthy brown tones and dark shadows. more ›

With today's relapse of wintery weather we're looking to the future and the warm sunny days that Spring will bring. And while looking forward, we found this photo by Dellplain that looks like it should be from some future T project. Few people can make an elevator look this good and a 5 exposure HDR gives the viewer lots of textures to explore. more ›

This shot by HDR master and all-around photographer extraordinaire srdaly11 simply rocks. We chose this particular one for its multiple layers of light and patterns, but definitely check out his photostream for more HDR goodness. more ›
