This week's Project Runway made us think one thing and one thing only: Britney Spears totally has a career in professional wrestling if she makes it out of the hospital (which, apparently, she just did). The runway challenge this week was to design an outfit for a female professional wrestler in the WWE. Some designers took the challenge to heart and ran with the campy sexuality of it all, while others were blinded by the sequins and rhinestones and came up with poor imitations of real wrestling outfits. more ›

Last week's Project Runway teamwork challenge brought out some drama, and this week continued to spice things up with a field trip to the Port Authority. The designers had to grab as much denim as possible (in the form of Levi's jeans) out of a giant warehouse and use it to create an original design going along with the Levi's spirit. At the start of the show, we weren't really sure what the Levi's spirit was, but boy, did those designers show us. more ›

This season of Project Runway is going well--maybe a little too well. Where's a Santino or a Jeffrey when you need one? Watching people competently make acceptable designs week after week is interesting from a fashion perspective, but it's not getting us our trashy reality TV fix. Why can't Christian and Sweet P get in a fistfight? Why isn't Chris dressing up in drag on set? Why do we still get Ricky and Rami confused sometimes? The designers are keeping a focus on design, which is great, but not really dramatic enough. And even the judges aren't being nitpicky enough to keep things interesting. Here's hoping some drama surfaces in the next few weeks, or this will be a real yawn of a season. There isn't even anybody on the show we want to see kicked out! This week's latest episode of Project Runway started off with one of those "judge not, lest ye be judged" moments, wherein the fashion-designin' contestants got to pick their own models. Some chose to stay with the models they'd worked with for weeks, while others dissed their old clotheshorses in favor of greener pastures. In contrast to last week's episode, which required designers to create looks for women who'd lost lots of weight, this week had the contestants create outfits from items they snagged from the Hershey's Store in Times Square. Instead of a budget, the contestants got time--five minutes to grab as much candy-related crap as possible to use to make a gorgeous garment. We've been resisting the temptation to make a remark about the sweet character of this challenge, but the owner of the Reese's store took care of that for us by telling the PR contestants to "have a sweet day" when they left.
