Global warming protesters mixed their messages today when a mannequin bearing the cryptic legend "THE REAL DUMMIES EVICT PEOPLE & CAUSE CLIMATE CHAOS" was locked to the Bank of America in Kenmore Square, prompting, as usual, a bomb scare and an evacuation. Credit for the prank was taken by Mannequins for Climate Justice, a group so obscure that it doesn't even have a website. (Not even a Facebook group.) Cops defused the alleged hoax device in a maddeningly dull fashion while shutting down traffic throughout the square for an hour and a half.

Star Simpson, the 20-year-old MIT student who was arrested last September for wearing a sweatshirt adorned with an LED panel to Logan Airport, will not receive jail time. East Boston District Judge Paul Mahoney dismissed the charge of possession of a hoax device, a felony, and assigned Simpson to pre-trial probation for the charge of disorderly conduct, reports the Herald.
