A 46-year old MBTA bus driver from Brockton was arrested yesterday possesssion of cocaine with intent to distribute, Boston Police and the Suffolk County District Attorney's office said. Police recovered cash and crack cocaine from the suspect. The driver, a woman, was arrested at the Cabot bus yard while in uniform. She drove for the MBTA since 2002. Sixteen boats were burglarized over the weekend in a boatyard off McPherson Drive near Innocenti Park. Beverly Police said the suspects cut through the shrink-wrap covering the boats with a knife and took a hat and one radio. Police said break-ins are common at this time of year. -- A Dorchester letter carrier was attacked and slashed in an attempted robbery. The victim fought off the assailant, who was armed with a knife and ended up with nothing. The incident took place on Mount Vernon Terrace at about 2:20 p.m. on Thursday. The Herald described the suspect as "a clean shaven black male, with a black watch cap, black hoodie, sweatshirt and a diamond earring in his right ear." Somebody's in trouble. The trucker who took a turn too fast in Everett and caused the tanker explosion and fire that left 60 people homeless at last count had a lead foot. One resident told the Herald that the man was exactly who the shooters were looking for, and they shoved him into the hallway of an apartment building on Shandon Road and started firing. --Police have charged a man with kidnapping and murdering a 7-year-old girl in Weymouth overnight. The man kidnapped the girl from a sleepover at her relatives' house. They pulled over Ryan Bois for driving "erratically." Bois led them on a high-speed chase, and, when they corralled him and the car, the police found the body of a missing girl in the backseat.
