Just over a week from now on Saturday, August 20, cliff divers will converge on Boston as part of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series. The lack of cliffs in Boston didn't deter the divers from making the Hub the Series' first-ever east coast stop. The competition is scheduled for the roof of the Institute of Contemporary Art building on Fan Pier. Yes, ICA/Boston is now a gigantic diving board, some 80 feet above the water. Eleven divers from nine countries will compete in the seven series events in Chile, Mexico, Greece, France, Italy, Boston, and the Ukraine. Five judges score the dives. A few of the region's top chefs will be featured on Fridays in July as part of the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston's "Talking Taste" series. Each chef will discuss the foods that made them famous and will provide samples from the outdoor ICA Grandstand. Each Friday event begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for members and students. If you're looking for a chance to see a top dance crew at work, you can catch the 30th anniversary performance from The Floorlords at the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston on Saturday, June 25 from 6-10 p.m. It's called "Return the Burn" and it's presented by ICA/Boston and Alliger Arts at the Barbara Lee Family Foundation Theater at 100 Northern Avenue in Boston. The Floorlords of 2011 are one of the country's best B-Boy/Girl Crews after beginning on Boston's streets in 1981. The Institute of Contemporary Art will once again profile Academy Award-nominated short films. The 2011 nominated films will be presented in two shows, Animated Shorts and Live Action Shorts, from February 21 to March 6. Every film will be shown entirely so fans can evaluate the eventual Oscar-winning films. The 85-minute animated program features Madagascar, Carnet de Voyage, Let’s Pollute, The Gruffalo, The Lost Thing, Day & Night, URS, and The Cow That Wanted to Be a Hamburger and is open to anyone age 7 and up. Dance innovator Bill T. Jones, who just received a Tony Award for Best Choreography for the Broadway musical FELA! and the Kennedy Center Honors, brings his Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company to Boston's Institute of Contemporary Art to present the World Premiere of Body Against Body, a revival of the trendsetting modern dance programs created by Bill T. Jones and Arnie Zane. This show includes renditions of Continuous Replay (1978), Blauvelt Mountain (1980), and Monkey Run Road (1979).
