The Globe has finally confirmed something we've long suspected: the city makes you stupid. Researchers like Marc Berman of the University of Michigan (whose page we encourage you to visit for a special surprise) have verified that the metropolis mangles minds:

Everybody's making "best of" lists at this time of year, but who's in charge of making a list of these best of lists? Well, nobody really, so we've put ourselves in charge and assembled a list of the "best books" lists of 2007. Nobody really needs another list, but a compilation of lists--and determining what's best according to all lists--is something helpful that nobody else really does. Bostonist has checked out several "best of" book lists so you don't have to, and we've assembled lists of the best of the best of lists. Below is our list o' book lists, and after the jump, we summarize the best-best books of 2007 from all lists!

Chuck Klosterman is currently considered a voice of a generation. The age range is about 19-25, and it was with his second book, "Sex, Drugs, And Cocoa Puffs: A Low Culture Manifesto," that he solidified himself as a name worth knowing. Starting as a news and sports writer, he moved over to rock criticism, but he's now writing a column for Esquire, and freelancing just about everywhere else. "Chuck Klosterman IV: A Decade Of Curious People And Dangerous Ideas," with its lengthy title and appealing cover art of blurry Manhattan crowd shots at 5 am, is currently touring with its author in tow, and Monday’s stop was an intimate reading at the Brattle Theatre.
