In Boston, a commemorative plaque is mounted on every other building, tree and rock... and we're proud of it, b'gum'! We just checked the historic museum gift shops and the coast is clear of tourists, stoners and field-trippers until February vacation. Here are a few gift ideas for the history buff (or the ignorant).

--It seemed as if the World Series put a cork in local gun incidents or the media (Bostonist included) was too busy with the Sox to notice. Now the cork is out of the bottle. The 45-year-old owner of Stalex Pizza in Dorchester was shot in the head this morning when he tried to go after an 18-year-old who robbed his shop. The man is in critical condition. The BPD announced that officers moved fast...
Every once in a while we find a podcast that is simply great. Thankfully, we found one only one week after a not-so-good 'cast was reviewed. This week we take a look at the Band In Boston podcast.
Sometimes you want to use your portable audio player to actually listen to music. Yes, we know that sounds crazy, but there are actually podcasts that focus on music. In Boston, we have a good selection of music 'casts. This week, we take a look at CC Radio.
Bostonist thought that for once the dreaded September 1 move had been avoided. July 1, 2005: A new year, a new era. Sure, January 1 is the first day of the year according to the Gregorian calendar. In Boston the fiscal year turns the page to FY 06 today. The States budget year coincides with the beginning of a new year for the many colleges and universities around the Hub. Put that together with it being a Friday before a long weekend, Bostonist is digging on a little...
Oh my poor Boston friends...you all were so happy today, appreciating the bright sunshine and balmy 50 degrees outside. You probably came across some new flowers started to bud or thought about washing the car this weekend, etc. Unfortunately, the weather gods are rearing their ugly freezing heads again because the city is suppose to get hit with snow tomorrow night. Snow is expected to start out in Worcester around 7 p.m. and move east to Boston. There is a bright side in that we're only going to get 1-3 inches of the white stuff (west and north of Boston is suppose to get 4-8 inches). Our friends over at CBS-4 pointed out some interesting statistics: In Boston's weather history, the latest day of freezing temperatures was April 11th one year, but it has snowed here on May 10th in the past. Should this information be comforting?
