Roxbury resident James Sanders, 18, pleaded not guilty to drug and assault charges after leading a Boston police officer on a foot chase following an apparent drug deal on Thursday. Sanders has no record. An officer approached Sanders after observing a drug deal. Sanders fled through Ramsay Park and was caught at Washington and Newcomb streets at which time the officer's weapon discharged. Sanders was treated at Boston Medical Center after being shot in the shoulder during the scuffle. He is charged with assault and battery on a public employee, resisting arrest, and possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute. His bail was set at $300 cash. -- A 24-year old former Cambridge school employee faces charges of aggravated child rape and carrying a dangerous weapon after allegedly raping a nine-year old in April.
