Jeff Green officially arrived last night as a member of the Boston Celtics. Green, who led the green team's bench with 19 points, scored 13 points in the second quarter as the Celtics responed from a slow start with a 32-20 second quarter to take over the game they went on to win, 92-80. The Celtics were on a 1-3 stretch prior to the win. They're tied with Chicago at 48-18 for first in the East.
Okay, sportsfans, we have a baseball season now that the Red Sox beat the Yankees, 5-3. But, some players you've never heard of made contributions to the win. Jose Iglesias reached base three times and scored once, Oscar Tejada was 2-2 with two RBI, including the game-winning hit, and Juan Carlos Linares was 2-2 with an RBI. A pitcher we know, Clay Buchholz, continued to throw well against the Yankees. He threw three scoreless innings and allowed one hit.
Now that a couple of days have passed since Danny Ainge reshaped the roster of the Celtics, perhaps the team can be able to focus on basketball. They admitted the trades made at the trading deadline, epecially the stunning deal that shipped Kendrick Perkins to Denver, made Thursday's game a hard one to handle.
Danny Ainge strikes again with some unexpected trading of Celtics players. The biggest deal involved sending Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson to Oklahoma City for Jeff Green, Nenad Krstic and a first-round draft choice in 2012. Green was chosen with the pick traded to Seattle in the Ray Allen deal.
