According to TMZ.com, Sox non-ace John Lackey has filed for divorce from his wife Krista. The soon-to-be-ex Mrs. Lackey reportedly has breast cancer and had a double mastectomy in March. Court papers were apparently filed in August in Texas that say there is a "conflict of personalities" in the marriage that began in November of 2008. There is allegedly a prenup. A lot happened on Sunday, sports fans. We found something good to lead-off with. Jacoby Ellsbury. The Sox speedy centerfielder saved the team after, we think, they were close to hitting rock bottom in Sunday's doubleheader. Ellsbury finished the games with a 5-11 performance with three home runs and five RBI. Ellsbury joined the 30-30 club, a first in franchise history. They lost game one, 6-2, and needed a three-run home run in the 14th inning from Ellsbury to win game two, 7-4.
The Red Sox still lead Tampa Bay by two games in the A.L. Wild Card after splitting a doubleheader with Baltimore yesterday. The Orioles took the opener, 5-4, and the Sox pounded Baltimore, 18-9, in game two thanks to 20 hits.

It took eight months of chasing, but the Miami Heat finally caught and surpassed the Boston Celtics last night with an emphatic statement and a 97-87 victory to close the series 4-1. The Celtics took the first three regular season games before losing five of their last six games against Miami.
A three-game winning streak is no more after a deluge of offense from the L.A. Angels resulted in two losses. Before Wednesday's 5-3 loss, the Red Sox were within one game of .500 at 14-15. The quick turnaround from Wednesday to Thursday agreed with the Angels to the tune of an 11-0 romp to close out the series.

The Celtics completed their four-game sweep of the Knicks with a 101-89 decision on Sunday at Madison Square Garden. Boston led 55-38 at the half and stretched their lead to 23 points in the third before New York surged back. The score closed to 84-80 in the fourth before the Celtics put the Knicks away.
When is it not a good day for a Sox game? Usually, the answer is never. However, in 2011 cellar days, the 2-9 Sox welcomed a rained out game. They don't play today. Two days off might be just what the struggling Sox need.

Streaks collide today at Fenway Park. The Red Sox swept Seattle and have a four-game winning streak. They've allowed just 11 runs in those four games. John Lackey has lost three straight starts and wants to avoid a career-first, four-start losing streak. The Sox are apparently lurking with 16 games left in the season. They trail the NYY by six games with six games left with the bad guys. In case you missed it, the CITGO sign returns in the 7th inning.
Eventually, pluck runs out. This isn't the movies. And although to a man, the Red Sox will point out that math and physics haven't ruled them out of catching the Yankees or the Rays for a playoff spot, nobody's that optimistic after losing two of three at Tampa.
Whatever the Red Sox gained on Friday, they gave back on Saturday in a maddening 3-2 loss in 10 innings. Now they face almost a must win scenario tonight on national television with John Lackey getting the ball.
Despite drawing first blood on Friday and facing an A-Rod less - Derek Jeter was laughing about it, so we can also laugh - Yankees club, the Red Sox couldn't take a second straight win in New York Saturday and lost 5-2.
