Jimmy Carter spoke at Brandeis last night about his controversial book Palestine: Peace, Not Apartheid, and the event was a civilized discussion instead of a much-feared shouting match among Carter, Alan Dershowitz, and Brandeis students. Brandeis University won't let director Jonathan Demme film former president Jimmy Carter's speech at the school on Tuesday night. The Academy-Award-winning Demme is working on a documentary about Carter. Given the raging debate surrounding Carter's book, Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid, and the events leading up to his speech, the event certainly should be part of any documentary about Carter.
