The full Daisuke Matsuzaka (3-3) experience was on display yesterday at Fenway Park. Translation: It was a performance only his mother could love. It's all good because the Red Sox won anyway with mostly good pitching and the arrival of a healthy offense leading to a 9-5 victory over the Twins.

The Red Sox split their squad today and had a zero in the win column. It's March, though, so none of it really counts anyway. That doesn't mean nothing important happened. The Florida Marlins beat the Red Sox, 11-2. In June, we'd be concerned. Today, not so much. Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched and completed three innings and allowed seven runs on six hits. Oscar Tejada was 3-5 with three RBI versus Baltimore in a 4-4 split-squad tie. Jose Iglesias was 3-4 with an RBI. Carl Crawford had his first two hits for Boston.
It started with a welcome sight: the Celtics playing at home for the first time in months and months (it seemed). It had a great moment when Eddie House came back, if you can call it back, since he hadn't missed any home games, and got and gave back all appropriate love from the Garden crowd. And, most importantly, it ended with a win, as the Celtics survived another big-lead-giveaway and held on to beat the Knicks 110-106.
After three straight losses, not to mention the quirky Friday thing, the Celtics would probably have taken a win anyway they could get one. So, Friday's 98-95 OT win over the Portland Trail Blazers, which is noteworthy, in part, because it marked Kevin Garnett's return to action, is one the Green will gladly take.
KG's return certainly makes Boston a better team even with his pedestrian 13 points and four rebounds. He brings intensity and attitude, and also fills out the roster. Please note the performance of Rasheed Wallace (12 points, 6 rebounds) coming off the bench.
The most noteworthy part of the game was the thrilling end. Ray Allen's game-winning three-pointer with :42 left in overtime was just his third field goal. With 96-95 lead, Allen passed to Tony Allen for the clinching dunk.
Paul Pierce paced the Celtics with 24 points before he fouled out in the fourth quarter. Rajon Rondo added 19 and nine assists.
When Red Sox Nation isn't busy obsessing over actual games, our fanatical allegiance leads us to consider potential trades that quite often are similar to Julio Lugo and Jeff Bailey for Albert Pujols. Hey, it does happen. With the MLB trade deadline looming at the end of July, those troublemakers reporters at the Globe are speculating about potential acquisitions that can help the Sox achieve world domination.
