Sorry, basketball fans. Kevin Durant, according to ESPN, won't play in tonight's Celtics/Thunder game. It's really a good news/bad news development for fans of the Green. A Durant-less Oklahoma City Thunder is much more beatable team in the TD Garden tonight. However, not getting to see the top scorer in the NBA, Durant at 28.0 points per game, is a loss for true basketball fans. A win would be comforting. [Yahoo! Sports] more ›

Weren't we told that losing the Lottery wasn't a big deal? Since this was the most loaded draft in years, the story went, the Celtics would happily grab a good player with the #5 pick that would complement Paul Pierce and the burgeoning youth movement, and join in on the team that would compete soon and for years to come. Yeah; not so much. Like a rube on a carnival midway, Danny Ainge fell for... more ›

The fate of nations will be determined this evening in the meadowlands of New Jersey, and we don't mean the upcoming Tony Soprano/Phil Leotardo showdown. The NBA Lottery is tonight, and we'll know if the Celtics are about to take another chance on another unproven youngster, or land one of the two sure-thing prizes in this summer's draft. The C's have a 19.9% chance of landing the #1 pick (Greg Oden, and don't let anyone... more ›

Last night, the Red Sox absolutely tore up the Orange County Angels - whoops, the Anaheim Angels of Los Angeles, 10 to 1. The Wakefield-Mirabelli machine was in top form. Pitcher Tim Wakefield pitched a beautiful game, allowing only one run, and catcher Doug Mirabelli surprised everyone, hitting a home run. That homer galvanized the Red Sox, and everything went downhill for the Angels. When Jonathan Papelbon arrived at the plate mound to close, he... more ›

We were asking if Doc Rivers needed his head checked after letting the Celtics bench finish out the game against the Charlotte Bobcats. The Celtics were winning, but Paul Pierce got hit in the eye. Doc took him out, and then he let Big Al Jefferson rest a while. He says he wasn't trying to throw the game. If Doc were impersonating Kevin Nealon's "Subliminal Man" character on Saturday Night Live, he could have grunted... more ›

So, the Celtics have been drooling over Kevin Durant, but, if they play badly enough, they might have another juicy prospect option - Glen "Big Baby" Davis of LSU is foregoing his senior year to join the pros. "Big Baby" is big indeed and sends visions of Shaq dancing in coaches heads. Danny Ainge may have put himself under house arrest to make sure he doesn't get too close to Davis' mother. Danny Ainge also... more ›

It seemed as if the Celtics were riding high when they finally beat the San Antonio Spurs this weekend and gave the Dallas Mavericks a run for their money. St. Patrick's Day had been kind to the Celtics, especially with anything regarding the state of Texas. more ›

Last night, the Garden saw some serious ugly. After winning a few, Celtics fans had cause for optimism. However, they were facing the Houston Rockets, fifth in the West and fully stocked with Yao Ming. Even though the Rockets didn't exactly deliver a pitch-perfect performance, the Celtics collapsed quickly and never caught up. The final score was 111 to 80, and the Rockets made 15 three-pointers. The performance was so bad that we thought we... more ›
