-- Lakeisha Gadson was acquitted today by a Suffolk County Superior Court jury of involuntary manslaughter. Gadson's 7-year-old nephew accidentally shot her 8-year-old son in 2007 after finding a loaded handgun kept in the house. The Globe reported she was also found not guilty on chargges of child endangerment, unlawful possession of a firearm, and improper storage of a firearm. Gadson was convicted of misleading police and will be sentenced on September 2. [Globe]
The DA's office announced that 31-year-old Lakeisha Gadson and her son, 16-year-old Jayquan McConnico, were indicted for manslaughter following the June incident in which Gadson's other son, 8-year-old Liquarry Jefferson, was shot to death by his 7-year-old cousin with McConnico's gun.
