As a 2nd time rider in the Pan Mass Challenge I was fortunate enough to make it to a select group of cyclists that rode with Lance Armstrong for many miles last Saturday. Armstrong's appearance in the PMC inspired everyone involved - we hope he comes back again. more ›

Two people were rescued from their car after it got stuck, upside down, in a swamp near the Auburn-Worcester line. The people included an 18-year old pregnant woman and her boyfriend. We like bikes at Bostonist (as long as they're not fixies). We also don't mind the French, at least not too much. So now that the World Cup is over, and it's Bastille Day, we can turn our attention to Le Tour de France, the most prestigous of cycling's three Grand Tours (the others being the Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a España). Currently in its tenth of twenty-one stages, the Tour de France is about halfway over, and is scheduled for completion on July 25. Many riders took today as a working holiday, but will be grinding it out again tomorrow. more ›

    --A new bill that limits--but doesn't ban--skin-shock treatments at the Judge Rotenberg Center was under discussion yesterday at the State House. The bill would "allow shocks to stop students from hurting themselves or others, but would prohibit shocks for more "minor" acts such as swearing, shouting, or failing to complete a task."     Last night Bostonist found ourselves at the Massachusetts College of Art Senior Show, an art opening featuring pieces from graduating seniors. The idea of spending a few hours in a room with a group of undergraduate art students had us a bit apprehensive, but we were a bit disappointed by the distinct lack of existential angst emanating from those present. In general, the crowd consisted of very nice students who seemed entirely relieved to be done with it all. By far, the most dramatic figures at the show were the professors. more ›
