Yet another way to realize the complete 180 undertaken by our local basketball organization presents itself to us today. Not only are some of us trudging back to work after a holiday break, but we also must accept that we're going to be bleary-eyed for the rest of the week. The reason? The Celts are on a road trip out West. Four games between now and Dec. 30, with three in Pacific Time and one......

Wicked Pissahs vs. Nutcrackers 6pm, Saturday, November 10 Shriners Auditorium, Wilmington Tickets and more information The Bruins have some competition for Boston's sports dollar on Saturday night: roller derby. It's the perfect sport for those who love full-contact skating but can't follow a puck. The Boston Derby Dames are in their second season of presenting live, all-women, flat-track roller derby. Saturday night, rivals Wicked Pissahs and Nutcrackers (the Derby Dames are split into four teams)......

Some stories just sound like terrible jokes. But this one is all too real. WBZ reports that a priest from Boston got arrested last Friday for stalking Conan O'Brien. Pardon us for using the words "priest" and "hell" in the same post, but, seriously, what the hell? You couldn't make that up. And the Archdiocese of Boston took its own sweet time to release the news. They waited until today to announce that Reverend David......

Halloween weekend is upon us, and much like last year's festivities there are far too many options to choose from. In addition to that, Boston has gone completely bonkers over the Red Sox kicking ass in the World Series, so you can be sure to find extra excitement in every neighborhood you party in over the next few days. (pssst! click image for larger flier) THUNDERDOME VIII Friday, October 26th Greek American Political Club 288......

Londonist are starting to think their city is getting just a little bit too expensive, when even Christian Slater can't afford to go out there. And there's no escaping, as local singer Lily Allen discovered when she was barred entry to the US. The British mapping agency caused further bad karma, by blocking a 3-D representation of London in Google Earth. But the smiles returned to Londonist's faces as they interviewed Baroness von Reichardt,......

Jerry Remy summed it up perfectly last night: "Both are terrible." The Rem wasn't talking about the play on display Saturday night at Petco Park in San Diego (although at times, he wouldn't have been far off), but was discussing the throwback uniforms worn by the Sox and Padres last night. Memo to both teams: burn those uniforms now. It looked as if "The Wizard of Oz" had thrown up all over Petco Park. Boston......

David Letterman's warning to Matt Damon when he appeared last night on Late Night. We caught the interview in a channel flip early in the west coast Sox game. Despite the disappointment handed to us in the bottom of the 11th, it's nice to go to sleep and awake to find that the tubes have done their magic and provided you with this video. In this case it's perhaps the lowest quality video we've seen......

What do two guys from the greater Boston area talk about on late night television? Easter candy of course. Last week B.J. Novak, a Newton native and star of the office, was on Late Night with Conan O'Brien (Conan's from Brookline and is a Harvard alum.) B.J. was on Conan to promote his new movie Rain Over Me but like many late night TV interviews it took a little while to get there. They started......

It's only a couple games before the Red Sox 2006 season wraps up. Unfortunately the playoffs aren't in the cards for the Olde Towne Team this year. We're taking a trip not so far down memory lane just a few years ago when our friends at Fenway overcame. A number of late night, long on inning games finally vindicated 86 years of believing. We believe. This week's flashback is a video slideshow set to music.......

Bostonist was exposed to Boy in Static (Alex Chen) a mere four weeks ago thanks to the wonder of our favorite online photo gallery (and oh so much more) Flickr. Ever since that moment we have been listening to his album on late night drives home to the suburbs, in the lingering hours of a night of studying (yes, some of us are STILL in school), and just generally whenever we get a free......

Eliza Dushku knows something we’ve known all along: The Best Girls Root for Boston. Bostonist missed it when we decided to catch some shut-eye instead of staying up to watch Conan on Tuesday, but the Internet didn’t miss a thing. Dushku is originally from Watertown (but claims Boston in her bio, we don't fault her), and showed Conan that she still has love for the hometown team. She ported two pieces of Homegirls apparel including......

After Boston was recently ranked11th for Fittest City in their spring issue, Men's Fitness Magazine has just released the top 20 Fittest (and Fattest) colleges and universities. With Boston already being a very healthy place (if you discount all the Dunkin Donuts in town), two local universities were listed in the fittest higher institutions of learning. Boston University came in third place, with Boston College taking the eleventh spot on the list. Men's Fitness worked......

A while back the Metro ran a set of ads calling for advertisers to buy into a new "Uncovered" section. Apparently it was coming August 3. Bostonist was curious. The Corporate Headquarters has mentioned the collaboration back in June. Last Wednesday the Metro was scoured, front to back, on the ride from Ruggles to Mass Ave on the Orange Line. Any evidence of Uncovered? Nope. Explanation: Postponed. Bostonist has been moaning about the stake the......

The weekend forecast is a bit troubling with the constant fear of rain being touted by every forecaster in Boston. Unfortunately, there are a lot of outdoor events going on this weekend. Bostonist has rounded up a list of them (with the big disclaimer: weather permitting) Head over to the Hatch Shell tomorrow where WBOS 92.9 is holding their annual Earthfest from noon until 6 p.m. For the price of free, you can see acts......

The MBTA is having superfun budget proposals this week, and they may be putting the Night Owl service out of its misery. Not without a fight, though. According to the Herald, City Councilor Michael P. Ross is organizing a rally at MBTA Headquarters (10 Park Plaza) at 11 this morning to keep the buses running, arguing that they are necessary for safety and late night workers. The Night Owl service, for those who stumble......
