Former New England Patriots running back Laurence Maroney was arrested Monday on alleged weapons and drug charges. The Globe reported he was still in police custody. The paper also reported that Maroney's publicist, Jane Higgins, said he was released and not charged. St. Louis police allegedly stopped a car with four men, including Maroney in it. Higgins told KMOV News 4 Maroney told police had a gun and was taken into custody. Police allegedly stopped Maroney's car while investigating a crime. Maroney, 25, was traded to the Denver Broncos in October. Maroney is from the St. Louis area. All charges alleged until proven under law. [Globe]
