If Kiefer Sutherland hasn't yet been sent flowers and an apology card by the Kraft family Bill Belichick Tom Brady the Patriots organization today, that order should be placed posthaste. While Sutherland, star of TV's 24 (and recent Legends Classic hockey player), was apologizing to everyone he's ever known during his Wednesday Late Show with David Letterman appearance, it's the Pats who owe Jack Bauer the apology. more ›

Unusually quiet on the local sports scene yesterday. Sure, the World Champion Red Sox dispersed to the talk show circuit. At various times last night, and for the next few days, you can see members of the hometown team doing walkons with Letterman, Leno, O'Brien, "The Daily Show", "Nightline", "The NFL Today", "Thomas the Tank Engine", "The Iron Chef", "CSI: Miami", and "Deadliest Catch". Check your local listings. But in terms of actual, on-the-field, recappable... more ›

Holy smokes! Giant fish on the MTA, Paris Hilton in jail, then out, then in again, Al Gore, goatses, blumpkins, Matt Damon, and baby art critics! It's been a busy week across the Ist-A-Verse, and here's a smattering of what's been going on. In Gothamist's neck of the woods, they found out that many things are possible: A man caught a 40+ pound fish off the Rockaways and took it home on the subway. Graffiti... more ›

David Letterman's warning to Matt Damon when he appeared last night on Late Night. We caught the interview in a channel flip early in the west coast Sox game. Despite the disappointment handed to us in the bottom of the 11th, it's nice to go to sleep and awake to find that the tubes have done their magic and provided you with this video. In this case it's perhaps the lowest quality video we've seen in a while – handheld cam video of a broadcast TV station*. Whatever, the clip is hometown boy Matt Damon on David Letterman's show in New York sporting a Sox jersey and bashing the Yankees. more ›

After a weekend of rain where all we heard was disgruntled Bostonians complaining, because that's what we do best, about the weather we rock into the week. Miraculously the Red Sox managed to play all their games this past weekend making us furiously check the forecast for WBOS' 14th annual EarthFest coming up this weekend. For us it marks the first of many outdoor events that will happen this summer, and it's Memorial Day... more ›

A weekend stand of winning baseball at home when the Sox take it to the Angels followed by the all day boozy spectator sport that is the Boston Marathon it's going to be a long week. Lucky for music fans there's a lot to look forward to and keep you up all night with that lovely ringing in your ears that only comes from live music. more ›

This week the music world turns its gaze to the party they call SXSW. A number of local bands are hitting the scene in hopes that it will propel them to some worldwide tour – or at least help them get out of that "garden level" apartment in Medford. While some eyes turn south to Texas where an immigration debate runs wild the US immigration policy has taken a toll on the local concert... more ›

All of a sudden we've got winter. The bonus prize is that it came late enough that when we leave work at 5 o'clock there's still natural light – soon enough it will still be light when we reemerge from the commute home underground on the T. Until the next few weeks pass and we can taste the summer concert and festival season in the spring air we'll continue to keep jamming through the... more ›

Tonight the State of the Union speech will be delivered in our nation's capital. While we're hitting the booze and playing the State of the Union drinking game, the media will talk about possible ramifications of the President's statements. But the focus has already started to shift from the current commander-in-chief to who's going to take over his job. The Democratic field of contenders is growing fast. Below you'll find Bostonist's guide to the field... more ›

If you’re hiking, consider charging up your iPod, as Seattlest finds out that a man lost during a hike was found by the glow of his iPod. That cleverness seems to be devoid in cops who were using police cruiser instant messaging clients - although we imagine IMs “so are you nakie” to be included in cop shows, just for realism. If only the cops were busting the Hummer-driving jerk who made a poor... more ›

Last week My Morning Jacket played two dates with the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall. A small set of the Pops had been on Letterman backing up the Pops earlier in the month for a preview performance. The CBS set is a far cry from the Symphony Hall setting the full Pops gig allowed. After Wednesday's show a couple of recordings were floating around the internets, but they went up and down. Thursday's show new recordings surfaced – and some of them even stuck around. There are now a handful of video clips of My Morning Jacket playing with the Boston Pops. We bring you here one of them with better sound quality than the rest. You can find others with a full stage perspective, poor image quality, and even from the Late Show. more ›

Who says Boston doesn't have any celebrities? Since Norm and Cliff don't grace our Thursday night televisions and heralding Good Will Hunting has become passé a lot of people are talking about how we don’t have much celeb power here in the Hub. Forbes Magazine takes a break from rating the richest people in America and the world to take focus on the 100 hottest celebrities – based on both influence and on their annual... more ›

The South By Southwest Festival in Austin has three components: Music, Film, and Interactive. And probably nobody navigates their way between these three worlds as well as Henry Rollins. Best known for his musical career (Black Flag, Rollins Band), Rollins has parlayed that into a career as a "jackass of all tirades" - actor, author, corporate speaker, unflinching social critic. He gave a freewheeling, honest talk at a one-on-one interview session with Esquire journalist Andy Langer. more ›

Bostonist has been enjoying Chris Elliott's humor ever since our parents let us stay up late one night back in the 80s and we saw him on Letterman. Elliott has continued to appear on Dave's show for years, and he went on to star in his own sitcom with his real father, Bob Elliott, on Fox back in 1990. Starring as a 30-year-old man who works as a paperboy living with his parents, Get A... more ›

So Bill Murray is no Bostonian, but he is one of Bostonist's favorite people. Perhaps it's his midwestern comedic sense or his part-ownership of the local Brockton Rox baseball team, but Murray is one of the few actors/comedians that is worth staying up to watch on Letterman. On last week's appearance, Murray was completely smitten over his new girlfriend, Katie Holmes; Letterman unfortunately had to break the news about Tom Cruise. Murray has a... more ›

Bostonist got word from our friends at Gothamist that Todd Barry would be in town this week. Jimmy Tingle’s Off Broadway up in Somerville will host the New York native comic Friday at 7:30 p.m. We have it on good authority from both Gothamist and DCist that Mr. Barry will figuratively split our sides on Friday. He’s a veteran of Letterman, Conan (a re-run aired last night), and a number of appearances on Comedy Central—from... more ›
