Sunday was a busy night at Logan Airport as two planes landed in Boston with up to 18 passengers injured by turbulence. Seven injuries were reported on a JetBlue flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Boston. Flight 182 included 130 passengers and five crew members. A Lufthansa flight was diverted to Boston with as many as 11 injuries due to turbulence. That flight was headed from Charlotte, N.C. to Munich was due to arrive at about 11:45 p.m. with as many as 11 injured people on board. No serious injuries were reported by WCVB.

State troopers and customs agents arrested Carlos J. Lanns, 24, of Hamilton, N.J., was arrested at Logan Airport on Monday with two kilograms of cocaine stashed in his shoes' insoles. He hid the drugs in checked bags in a JetBlue flight from the Dominican Republic to Boston. The drugs reportedly have a street value of $200,000. Lanns was charged with trafficking a Class B substance in East Boston District Court on Tuesday and is held on $300,000 with a hearing set for October 5. [WCVB]

Two Delta jets collided on a taxiway at Logan Airport on Thusday while both were preparing to take off. The wing of a large 767 passenger jet cilipped the tail fin of a Comair “regional” jet at around 7:30 p.m. Hundreds of passengers were evacuated from both planes while no serious injuries were reported. The 767 passengers were returned to the terminal on the plane and Comair passengers were bused back.
An Illinois man was arrested by State Troopers at Logan Airport at a Southwest Airlines security checkpoint last night for making a false bomb threat and disorderly conduct. Joseph Haynes, a 22-year old from Chicago, allegedly threatened TSA workers by claiming he had an AK-47 machine gun and hand grenades in his checked luggage. The Massachusetts State Police, including canine and bomb units, searched his checked bags and found no firearms or explosives in either. Police closed the checkpoint for almost 20 minutes as police investigated. A woman accompanying Haynes on Southwest Airlines Flight 3627 to Chicago was not charged.
Delta Flight 1102 from Orlando landed safely at Logan Airport tonight despite an in-flight incident in which a passenger tried to open an emergency door at around 9:10 p.m. Another passenger, an off-duty police officer reportedly subdued the suspect. A catering truck collided with the wing of a JetBlue Airbus A320 plane that was being boarded at Logan Airport. A 90-year old woman fell out of a wheelchair and hurt her leg after the collision and went to Massachusetts General Hospital. State Police cited a JetBlue worker for not staying with the truck.
Delvonte Tisdale died in November at age 16 after he fell out of a plane's wheel well as it approached Logan Airport from Charlotte. Six months later, there is still no definitive answer to explain how he got on the plane, according to a report released by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. Jose Gonzalez, 32, of Somerville is charged with mayhem after he allegedly cut off three of his girlfriend’s fingers after an a Saturday morning argument in the South End. Gonzalez was held without bail on Tuesday. Police recovered a severed pinky finger and a foldout knife, and have security camera footage of Gonzalez dropping her off at the Boston Medical Center. State police arrested a 22-year old East Boston woman was at Logan Airport on Sunday morning for allegedly trying to smuggle cocaine through Customs and Border Protection in a diaper. After providing inconsistent answers, the suspect underwent a pat down search in which police found 1,000 grams of a "powdery substance" that turned out to be cocaine on her. She is being held on $100,000 cash bail and will be arraigned in East Boston District Court on Monday. She arrived from Santo Domingo. All charges alleged until proven under law. [WCVB]
A pasesenger on Delta Airlines Flight 1922 from Detroit to Boston is now a guest of the State police after impersonating a federal air marshal. There happened to be an actual federal air marshal on board to secure the suspect. Ann Davis of the TSA said the impersonator was trying to impress another passenger by claiming to be a federal air marshal. She said he was detained on board by an actual federal air marshal. Logan Airport spokesman Phil Orlandella said the detainee is not a terrorist and is currently undergoing a psychiatric evaluation. [Herald], [WCVB]
State police arrested 51-year-old Nicolas Cauchy of Cambridge and charged him with making a false bomb threat and disorderly conduct after he allegedly claimed to have a bomb in his car. Cauchy ade this claim during a routine security check in a Logan Airport garage on Friday afternoon. Police checked Cauchy’s 2001 Dodge Dakota and confirmed it was a hoax.[MyFoxBoston.com]
Our winter of wacky weather has now turned to lightning and wind, after snow and cold and hot temperatures. An Arlington man collided with a firefighter with his truck after a confrontation over snow removal. The suspect says he was upset by firefighters allegedly shoveling snow from hydrants onto the sidewalks he had already shoveled. The Hudson man removed from a plane at Logan Airport today was arraigned in East Boston District Court and released on his own recognizance. He has a court date on March 15. [Globe]
Individual airlines plan to resume service this afternoon at Logan International Airport as early as 2 p.m. Southwest and USAir join Delta in resuming at 2 p.m. JetBlue follows at 3 p.m., with Continental (4 p.m.), AirTran (4:55 p.m.) and United (5 p.m.) after that. Virgin Airlines has canceled all Monday flights. While Logan was open all along, many airlines moved planes from Boston and can't resume flights until planes are in place.
