    --For some reason, 32-year-old Keni Garcia of Haverhill allegedly wanted 85,000 bullets. The ATF, ICE and state and local authorities seem to think this was a bad idea. Who knew? Essex County prosecutors are charging Garcia, who was scheduled to become an American citizen today, with illegal possession of ammunition, three counts of possession of a high-capacity firearm, and illegal storage of a firearm. Investigators found 10,000 rounds in his car, 20,000 rounds at his house. He allegedly tried to buy 55,000 more rounds in New Hampshire.[Boston Globe, Boston Herald]

  • -- It's official. Bostonist reported back in April that the Longfellow Bridge is falling apart, which is clear to anyone who walks across it. As of Friday the sidewalk facing Back Bay was closed to pedestrians to repair a support beam. And no spectators will be allowed on the bridge to watch the fireworks on the Fourth of July.     --Part of the Storrow Drive tunnel is closed for repairs. Here's the scoop from the AP: "Through Sunday, officials say one eastbound lane of the tunnel will be closed to traffic from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Beginning January 2, the work will be shifted to the overnight hours from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m." [Boston Herald]
