Mark Kerrigan was acquitted on Wednesday of involuntary manslaughter in the 2010 death of his father. The jury convicted Kerrigan of assault and battery on a person 60 years of age and older, a charge that could put himiin jail for up to 2.5 years. Closing arguments in Mark Kerrigan's manslaughter trial were delivered today in Middlesex Superior Court and described two entirely different versions of how Daniel Kerrigan died.
Darrell Rodrigues, 20, pleaded guilty to manslaughter for his role in the 2007 shooting death of 13-year old Luis Gerena Jr. in Jamaica Plain. He faces 14-15 years in prison. Rodrigues and his co-defendant belong to the Academy Homes gang and thought Gerena was a member of the rival Heath Street gang. [Herald]

-- Hector Guardiola, 25, of South Boston was indicted for manslaughter and two counts of assault and battery on Wednesday over an incident at the Lansdowne Pub on August 14. Guardiola allegedly threw a mug that shattered, sending glass flying and ultimately striking and killing Michael DiMaria, 23, of Hicksville, N.Y. He's held on $100,000 bail and will be arraigned November 10 in Suffolk Superior Court. [Globe]
-- Since Thursday, eight people were injured in two different shooting incidents near Washington Street in Jamaica Plain. Five men, described as Hispanic by police, were shot around 4:30 p.m. in the vicinity of the intersection of Boylston and Washington streets. Hector Guardiola, 25, of Boston is charged with manslaughter and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, a glass allegedly thrown by the suspect during the melee that shattered and hit the victim in the neck. --According to the Herald, the Commonwealth's Supreme Judicial Court ruled that, "Dancing nude in Harvard Square to protest the commercialization of Christmas is not a constitutionally protected act of self-expression," overturning a decision by a lower court to throw out a case against a local woman.
