The state says it has made it easier for people who merit food stamps to get them by simplifying the application process, expanding Food Stamp Outreach Centers, and extending certification periods, among other measures. Medical deductions are now being offered as well. Apparently every food stamp dollar spent in the state generates $1.84 in additional economic activities, so stamp away!......

Governor Deval Patrick signed the Massachusetts budget today, vetoing over $120 million in pet projects earmarked by his legislators. Critics have said that the state's budget is bloated and even the cuts Patrick made today won't be enough to compensate.
