It's been a month and a half since any of our local teams even competed for, let alone won, a championship. And while the Revolution will soon have to get back to work to finally get over the hump and claim their first MLS Cup, they can at least bask in the glow of the SuperLiga title. The tournament, featuring a few MLS teams and a few Mexican teams, came down to the Revs vs.......

"The Red Sox don't deserve a player like me," Manny Ramirez said yesterday. We're not sure; at this point, it seems like a match made in heaven. Last night was either Manny's last game in a Sox uniform, or it wasn't, and either way it was pretty pathetic. Trailing 3-2 after five, the sixth hit the fan once again, and when the dust settled the Angels had a 9-2 win, a sweep, and some legitimate......

"Night game, day game, get in at 5, night game, day game, day game, night game, extra innings, get in at 5." Beat poetry, or Jason Varitek describing the most recent stretch of the Red Sox' schedule? Get your remote control warmed up and tell the family they're on their own for dinner, because there's a lot of sports to be watchin' today. The fun starts at 2:00, when the Revolution try to get from "happy to be in the championship game", which is old hat, to actually winning the thing. They're matched up against Houston for all the marbles again; goalie Matt Reis......

While you, and we, have been fixated on the Red Sox and the Patriots and the Celtics, the Revolution have quietly made their way back to the MLS Cup. And it's time attention is paid. The Revs are in the Finals for the third straight year, and fourth since 2002. They got there by outlasting Chicago 1-0, with Taylor Twellman scoring his second goal of the playoffs. Which was also the team's second goal of......

On a day when Daisuke looked mortal, and the bullpen was in a state of flux, the Red Sox turned to Manny Ramirez to get them out of trouble. And so he did, hitting a 2-run homer in the 4th to give the Sox a 7-5 lead, then a solo shot deep into right to give them their 8-7 win. Daisuke struggled in the first, no thanks to two fielding muffs by Alex Cora Julio......
