The "Aussie" star is here to scope out the local scene prior to filming Edge of Darkness beginning on August 18.     Popcritics, Cinematical, and other sources report that Mel Gibson, # 1 expert on what women want, will be packing on some lethal weapons (more likely guns than Braveheart-esque swords) this summer to play a police officer in the upcoming Edge of Darkness. Directed by Martin Campbell, who also did Casino Royale and GoldenEye, the film is an adaptation of a BBC miniseries from 1985, hearkening back to the days of Mad Max.
