Rajon Rondo is currently in possession of the most scrutinized elbow in the NBA, and an MRI today proved the elbow is not broken. Doc Rivers said he's assuming Rondo will be in action tonight in game four against Miami. How effective he'll be is a different matter. more ›

The Red Sox gave all of us some good news during the first day of spring training workouts. Larry Lucchino said Fenway Park has another 40-50 years left after 10 years of improvements. Bringing newly-acquired Liverpool in for a match will probably trim 10 years off of that. The ownership trio of John Henry, Tom Werner and Lucchino got a standing ovation from the players. more ›

Bostonist is still thinking about Rajon Rondo's performance in Sunday's win over the Miami Heat. He was the most valuable player on the court. He did a bit of everything, even guarding LeBron James, who has seven inches and about 80 pounds on Rondo. Doc Rivers discussed how an unconventional plan like putting Rondo on LeBron was crucial to the win. more ›

You can say what you want about the Miami Heat - and we will, and we know you will - but they don't get discouraged easily. "We're the best 5-4 team in the league. How about that?" asked Dwyane Wade, who was freed after the game from being tied up, gagged, and thrown in the back of a van during his 5-4 juggernaut's 112-107 loss at the hands of the efficient Celtics. more ›

We heard plenty of excuses for the Miami Heat when the Celtics beat them to open the season. Eight games into the season is probably enough time for the excuse of not having come together as a team yet. Whatever. more ›

The people who pick the debate dates for our gubernatorial candidates need some help. Two debates had to be rescheduled due to seemingly obvious conflicts. The folks at WBZ originally planned the first debate for September 8. That turned out to be the start of Rosh Hashanah. The debate was moved to September 7 without a hitch. The next gubernatorial debate got moved from Tuesday, October 26 to Monday, October 25 to avoid conflict with the Boston Celtics' season-opening game against the Miami Heat. One word: Interns!

We've praised the Celtics up and down over the course of 14 games. Given the fact that they won - again - on Friday night, this time defeating Shaq and the Miami Heat, we're going to give them the Belichick once-over. You know, give 'em a taste of what Randy Moss and Tom Brady deal with every week. You guys feeling good? Feeling confident because you beat Miami by 10 points? A 95-85 win, fellas.... more ›

Tim Thomas has been a rock in goal for the Bruins; even when they've been floundering offensively - and make no mistake, they have - Thomas has played well enough to keep them in the game. But last night against Toronto, another team struggling to put the biscuit in the basket, the B's found their rhythm and controlled the tempo, punishing old friend Andrew Raycroft for a 5-2 win. (Your humble correspondent was there, doing... more ›

The Celtics lost their sixteenth game last night to the Miami Heat, 79 to 91. The Heat wasn't going to cave in. They had the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, and they wanted to keep it. In more absurdity, Wally Szczerbiak injured himself yet again by spraining his ankle on Leon Powe's foot. If this year's Celtics pass 19 losses, they'll break the NBA record for most losses in a row. And now,... more ›

Bostonist won't waste your precious time fawning over our most very favorite Superbowl quarterback, but Tom Brady turns the ripe old age of 28 today. Happy Birthday, Tom. Bostonist got to thinking that Brady is only 28, has 3 Superbowl titles, a hot girlfriend, and a sweet condo on Commonwealth. Although Brady does have a few years on Bostonist, we would like to think that we too can achieve all that. Okay, we'll settle for... more ›

Invited to this little soiree was our star Red Sox ace, Curt Schilling. Curt proved to be the most eloquent of the ballplayers there, fielding a larger number of questions than the others. However, there has been some discussion that the stance taken by Mr. Schilling was less than acceptable. He felt that this steroid problem is something more far-reaching than just the sport of baseball, and that energy should be spent across the board in the professional sports world. He also made it known that he thought baseball would be able to effectively police themselves in resolving this issue. As much as Bostonist loves the guy, one has to believe that that's about as probable as the Red Sox winning the World Se- ... uhhh... as the Cubbies winning the World Series. more ›
